Anansi Boys will be lots of fun, but I haven't picked it up yet. Combination of waiting to get it out of the library, since I know I'll read it in a day, and not even finding that one totally free day to read it. It's gotten all great reviews, though.

Do tell me what you've been listening to lately; your recs have excellent credibility and I'm looking for some new music. Are the Black Keys comparable to any other bands?
mmf, well, in any event, hope all's well!

But if you're looking for new music, I've got your back. Here are my current favorite recent releases which I think you might like as well. They are all *really* good:
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary
basically = Arcade Fire (I forget if you ever listened to them) + Modest Mouse + the Unicorns (another wonderful group), but they have enough individuality (and songwriting chops) to be great. Big concepts - love, modernity, family, death - and music powerful enough to match. This is the album I'm currently listening to on repeat, since I just really started listening to it two days ago. It's also the current toast of the indie-rock press.
The Go! Team - Thunder Lightning Strike
Clamorous electronic mashed-up rally songs with samples and occasional indecipherable vocals by a vocalist named Ninja. "Huddle Formation" is one of the most addictive songs I've ever encountered. Energizing, and, at the most unexpected times, affecting. I love this album a lot.

Oh, and Alisa has Anansi Boys... I'll wait to take her up on the offer to borrow until sometime without school craziness. Thanks for posting the excerpt; I've actually never read Neil Gaiman myself before, but I must pursue that. :)
