The wind that blows, the ship that goes and the lass that loves a sailor

*Blows the dust off this thing*

A couple of weeks ago my Mum basically summed up my summer after graduation by handing me a journal with the words: "Here's something for you, there's a crossword about superheroes on page 70 and one about football on page 80."

Though by now, since the Euros are done (NO I DO NOT WHISH TO TALK ABOUT IT UGH) I would ( Read more... )

Lol at the Sharpe and Hornblower watching. My younger brother is obsessed with all things Sharpe (and has a man crush on Sean Bean, hahaha). 18/19th C England is really interesting. I actually don't know that much though prior to Victorian era though ^^;;; Shall do some research later, hahaha.

Envious of you and your summer course! Would love to do something like that. Though I am looking into enrolling on a novel writing course that starts in the autumn, so yeah.

Sounds like you're having a fun, geektastic summer so far anyways! :D

Everybody should have a man crush on Sean Bean! Your brother has good taste ;) I don't know a lot about it either, but an intriguing mind wants to know, so when I read/hear something I don't understand I look it upp *coughwikipediacough* and then promptly forget most of it...

It's really fun! And since it's all done over the Internet, with no lectures and classes, you have a lot of freedom as well. The novel writing course sounds really fun as well, you have to let me know how it goes :)

I think "geektastic" is the perfect word to describe my summer actually :D

Lol yes, I do that with stuff too. Can sometimes spend hours on Wikipedia jumping from one piece of information to another. So awesome!

Ahh it's internet based. That's really good! I shall let you know how the novel course goes should I actually do it! :)

I am so ADD, it's taken me a week to read this whole post :P

OMG the Super Dictionary - WTF - awesome!

Joseph Gordon-Levitt - do we think he's Robyn? Does he just want Christian Bale to love him? Discuss.

Victorian England - what the shit, I have given up on it as a concept. I've been reading "Emma" since my trip to Italy, back in MAY, and I'm still not done because, honestly, I don't give a crap. It's not even badly written, I just can't make myself care about the high society problems that people thought they had back then. The answer is not always DUTY, sometimes it's just UPTIGHT and YAWN.

I don't know if you seen it or not yet (I have been away to more rural parts of the country= zero internet access), but I think he might be Robin yes. Or maybe I should say A robin (his character's name isn't one of the robins in comics but I don't think that means anything) or at least a robin-like character. Though there is this other comics character called Azrael who - how should I put it without spoiling anything, I don't know how familiar you are with the comics - who is kind of important in a Bane storyline, and that might be him aswell. Though I'm hoping for Robin. Robin deserves more screen time that isn't Batman & Robin ( ... )

Well since you would have watched it by now, I can go ahead and spoil it:

YES - we were both right. He's A Robin. Also, he was just awesome. Yay! Also, Anne Hathaway did a surprisingly great job as A Cat Woman.

I've never read Master and Commander, but I have a feeling it would have been better as a BDSM AU :P. Should I bother? Mind you, I even thought the film version was boring, and it made me quite sea sick.

Yes he was! I like how he, despite not being a robin from the comics still had a lot of robin traits and was like a combination of several robins. And how he was just awesome! :P I was pleasantly surprised by Hathaway too, I raised an eyebrow when she was cast but I think she did a great job. And it's nice that Batman and Catwoman for once got their happy ending ;)

I haven't even seen the film so I don't know how how well they match up, but I'm not sure I would recommend it no. I mean, I liked it once I had gotten used to the language, writing style and late 18th century nautical terms....:P It's so random though. Totally random, all the time...

So I finally saw Batman, which means I can read this without being afraid of spoilers and I got an apropriate icon to use in this comment, so now I'm all set to comment!

Our summer theme is awesome. And yes, it's alwayd duty. Or duteh, if you ask Sean Bean.

I liked Batman. It wasn't quite up to The Dark Knight, but it was a good end to the triology. I spent most of the film feeling sorry for Alfred, though, it was so horrible when he left Bruce:( I'm still confused about Bane's voice, though, it was so nice it almost made me root for him sometimes.

Ooh nice and shiny icon. What does it say, I can't quite make it out?

DUTEH! We haven't seen Sharpe in an age and a half now. I'm getting Sharpe-withdrawal :/

Alfred :'( He is the best character in all of comics. And yeah, my heart broke for him and no matter what anybody says I'm going to keep believing he and Bruce talked to each other afterwards. Bane sounded way too nice (and sometimes way too alike Liam Neeson), it was confusing I agree. I wonder if they were after some dynamic, symmetry thingy with Batman's voice :P

I can't make it out either, but I think it was called off into the sunset or something like that, so I'm guessing that's what it says.

We must have moar Sharpe!!! Why are we never at home at the same time?

Of course they did! What's Alfred supposed to do with his life if he doesn't have Bruce to look after? And who's going to take care of Batman and Catwoman's children when they're off fighting crimes if Alfred's not there? I think Bane's voice sounded particularly nice when he was talking to Batman, because honestly, Christian Bale's Batman-voice is kind of silly. M said that Bane had another voice at first, but when they test showed the movie (or parts of it) to some people they couldn't undertand what he said so they had to change it.

IDK D: We must try to at least watch one more Sharpe episode before K goes back to uni again!

Rather "what is Bruce suppose to do without Alfred in his life, the man does everything for him" I'd say :P Batman and Catwoman actually has a daughter on a another world, though I think they got her while Catwoman was still "evil" or at least "not good". In the main universe, the current Robin is the son of Batman and Talia Al Ghul. Maybe Batman should think about this habit of his.

I think both Bale's and Hardy's voices are kind of silly tbh. I read that some people had problem with Bane's voice but I didn't know they changed it. It makes sense that they did, but some people have problem have trouble hearing what Bale!Batman says as well and it seems like that voice just kept getting worse and worse...
