Apart from the OOC-ness, this can work if it's set up properly: there's a classic Looney Tune with geriatric Foghorn Leghorn and his canine nemesis watching their grandkids and reminiscing about all the times they one-upped each other - and of course it ends up with a renewal of hostilities.

That's a pretty good point. And now I really want to see that in Golden Sun style because I imagine the results would be quite comical.
