i know this whole draft thing was brought up a long time ago but after listening to many people talk about it, it sounded like it was just a rumour and thats it ( Read more... )

i haven't heard anything about that.....but it's very interesting that he would try to do that during an election year.

yes. it's definite. if you're number comes up and you're in college, you've got til the end of that semester and then you're shipped off. if you're not, then you go right then. all positions in the committee have been filled over the past year, and it's fully ready to be operational whenever they wish to start it. so whether they do or not is up to them, but they've got the capabilities, right now.

They have the capabilites right now, but many people *suprise* from within the Bush Administration are strongly opposed. Last I heard, it's still being debated from the inside.

They do, however, have the capabilities. Both Kerry and Edwards have already spoken out against it, but Mr. Bush himself has stayed pretty tight lipped.

If anyone has seen new information, pass it along.

Also keep in mind that Bush cannot simply issue a draft. He must propose it, and two thirds of the senate have to agree to pass it. Most of the folks we have in senate would never dare to have that on the record.
