We finally meet.

Me and Elizabeth finally met this weekend. It was wonderful. She is coming down here in two weeks. I can't wait until then. I wrote a really long summary (1500 words) of what happened, mainly so I will be able to look back and remember one day, but you can read it below also

So I got there about 4:30. I pulled in the parking lot, and made sure my truck was all clean on the inside, and that I looked half way descent. I hid pooh in the back of the truck. I called her, and when she came down, she had the biggest smile on her face, it was so adorable. I took three or four pictures of her before she could even get to me. We hugged, then I told her to close her eyes. I pulled pooh out of the truck, and squeezed him in front of her, and he said “Let’s Snuggle”. She smiled, and we hugged, and from then on, not a second of nervousness. It was like I had known her for years, it was really strange.

Before I go on, I just wanted to tell you all about the plan that we had made. See I was really nervous about the awkwardness of different situations. I mean it really was sort of a blind date, even though we have seen each other for a while. Anyways, one night on the phone we planned out all of the awkward situations. Everything from handholding, to when and where to kiss, to paying for her parent’s dinner, to her seeing me walk, everything. It was not written in stone or anything, but it was kind of nice to know what she expected and how, that way I didn’t have to guess.

Anyways, after we met in the parking lot, we went up stairs and I met her roommate, Christin, who was really nice to me. She had even spread out condoms all over the room to invite me ;-D. We sat around and small talked for a little while (the girls had a condom fight), and then Elizabeth and me left for her house. I could tell Elizabeth was still a little bit nervous by the way she acted, but as it went on, she became more comfortable around me.

So before I got out of the truck at her parent’s place, this huge bear/dog came and greeted me. His name is Cody, he is like 125 pounds, and he is probably 3 foot tall. Well you all know that I am half-black, and am afraid of dogs. But he just started licking me, and stuff, he is just a big teddy bear. Before we could go inside, we talked to her neighbor’s children, who are like four and three. They were so cute, but what I really remember is how great and loving Elizabeth was too them. All I remember thinking is how much of a great mother she is going to be one day.

So then, we met her dad. I was a little nervous about meeting him, but once I did, it was fine. He was a big guy, like me, which made me a lot less nervous. Plus he was really funny, and smart, in fact we are a lot alike. So we road over to Outback to eat dinner, and her mom met us at the restaurant. I was a lot more nervous about meeting her mamma than I was about her daddy. She was nice to me and we small talked, so I think she liked me too. Dinner was pretty good, the conversation was mainly between Elizabeth and her parents, which was nice for me, and I enjoyed learning more about them.

So we left the restaurant and came back to her parent’s house. Before we left for the movie, I gave them a couple of little gifts from Hallmark, which I think really surprised them. Elizabeth had told me that none of her past boyfriend’s had eaten dinner with her parents, and I think none of them had ever gave them gifts. So then she and I went to the movie. Thank God she was with me, there were probably 50 turns between her house and the movies, and I still have no idea how we got there.
Xmen 2 was GREAT. It has an action seen with nightcrawler that looked a lot like the Matrix fight scenes. And the characters were true to the original comic also. This theatre had seats where the armrests folded up between the seats, so she watched the entire movie in my arms. I haven’t held anyone like that in a long time. *On a side note, am I the only guy who thinks the smell of herbal essence in a woman’s hair is so wonderful that it is almost unearthly?* Well at the end of the movie, we were the only ones still there. I was really nervous because we did not discuss an end of movie kiss in the plans. So I thought about it during the credits, and finally I mustered up the courage and kissed her. ;-)

After the movie, we ran by Steak and Shake and got a couple of vanilla milk shakes (I am trying to fatten her up). When we got to her house, about 12, we laid out on the trampoline and talked for a couple of hours. Then we came in and I got a shower, and we laid on the couch and talked for another hour or so. We finally went to bed around three.

The next morning we got up, and she had a message to call someone with an abandoned baby possum (she is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator). She talked on the phone with this person for about 30 minutes giving them advice and letting them know what they needed to do. I really did not mind, because it just reminded me of all the times I have gotten phone calls from people with computer problems. Then we (and Cody) went outside and walked down the creek towards the waterfall. THE WATERFALL WAS GORGEOUS! I took lots of pictures of it, which I will put online for yall to see. She told me the story of how her parents had met on the waterfalls (which are on her dad’s family’s property), how they had gotten engaged on the waterfalls, and how they had gotten married on the waterfalls (sounds like we need to start a new tradition ;-D ). We talked for several hours, then we went to her granny’s house (who was on a business trip) to check on her dog.

We walked around the hills for a little while, and then we went to Zaxby’s for lunch. We came back, and walked down to the falls again. This time her daddy and her brother were working on some stuff down there, so I got to meet her brother. We went and played in the creek for a little while (with Cody), then I told her parent’s goodbye. Her mamma was under the assumption that I was staying that night also, and when I told her I wasn’t, she told me that I was welcome to come back anytime I wanted too, which made me feel like they approved of me.

So we went back to her dorm, and took a nap for a couple hours. She laid her head on my shoulder (which is a little different than most, but actually made a good pillow for her), and she slept. I really couldn’t sleep, because I was just thinking about all that was going on. Then she woke up, and went to down town Atlanta and ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory (WONDERFUL!). We came back to her dorm and we said our goodbye’s in the truck. She started to cry, so I counteracted by tickling her ;-)

This morning she put this post http://www.livejournal.com/users/lizzie9208/234592.html plus her mamma sent her this email:

Just wanted you to know that dad and I like Dustin. He is personable and thoughtful. Hope you had a good time with him this weekend.

Love,
Yo moma

So it turned out great.

So what did I think of her? Well her pictures did not do her justice, she is beautiful. She is the perfect height, when we hug the top of her head is right under my chin. I didn’t feel nervous around her at all, which I thought was really strange, but wonderful. I felt like I could be completely honest around her, and I also felt like she could do the same with me. Honesty is the most important thing in a relationship to me, and we do not have to hide anything between us. She was funny, which was very much a plus. She also was silly/immature/crazy, which was great because I am the exact same way. She is by no means a negative or critical person, so if we ever got into any disagreements/arguments, I know that it would just blow away. She was so cute, she loves children and animals, and her heart is so large. I just can’t say enough about her, except that I can’t wait to see her again.
