I need some help. I've been thinking about getting a laptop for out on the road for awhile now. Somtimes I get bored when theres some downtime and i dont have anything to do. The problem? I don't know anything at all about laptops. Like whats good/bad whatnot. I'm looking to spend maybe around 1000 bucks. Looking for something that can play ( Read more... )

thanks alot. I really didn't even know where to look before lol. From what you've said, and a few others. I'm thinking I might wait another paycheck or two. I never realized how much more expensive they were then desktops. I'm not really to worried about something thats going to make games look super hot or anything. Though i'd enjoy somethin decent to look at lol. Main thing is going to be reliability for me. Since I don't get home much having problems with it would be a huge hassle.

Hey dude.. just did a lot of research on this to get my laptop. I wanted something under 1k that would play games ok. The most important thing is a non-integrated graphics card. About 90% of the laptops under 1k will have either an ATI x1200, Geforce 7150 or Intel x3100. Those are all integrated cards without their own memory.

Now with FFXI, it doesn't get along well with Nvidia (Geforce) graphics cards well at all. I have also had really good luck with ATI's in the past on my desktops. So I wanted a laptop with a decent processor, decent memory and a dedicated ATI card. It was pretty hard to find, but Office Depot had a good deal on a Toshiba Satellite.. gonna have to get the exact model number for ya later cuz i can't remember it but it's something like A215-S6820.. maybe 8260.. 8620.. one of those. Anyways, this laptop has an AMD turion 2.2 ghz, 3 Gig RAM, 300 gb hard drive and an ATI HD2400 card (mid line dedicated graphics). I got it for $899 on sale..

Just got back and saw that. I went lookin around Office Depots Definitly saw some there that are in price range and would work for what im lookin for. thanks. I'm honestly not sure what im gonna do now lol. since i posted this now i got about 3 grand i could spend on one if i really wanted but donno if i really want to haha
