My parents often ask me why I spend so much time at the mall when I'm in Rochester, since I don't usually buy anything; Barnes & Noble is a good response to such questions. I don't tell them that I people watch, that I study the people to see if I'm still unlike them and to decide if I'm happy living far away. I enjoy the anonymity, for despite ( Read more... )

To answer your comments in the opposite order to the way you put them in your entry:

1. Yes, you are! (wiser, thinner, and of course beautiful)

2. Similar to you, I'm finding less and less reasons to go home, to Portland. Now, it is mostly to visit the folks (and to do laundry :) )

3. Do you ever do people-watching in coffee-shops in Seattle. It's even more fun to do in company - this way you can share what you think the people's lives look like. I do it all the time! Give me a call or email some time and we'll do some people watching. ;)

1. Why thank you, Ilan!
2. Hehe both good reasons to visit home (also why I visit), and I'm glad that I'm not the only one!
3. Heh yeah, let's do that one day! It'll be fun.

SHIR. I got your message late last night. I have to work today, perhaps you'd like to get a coffee after I'm done with school tomorrow? I'm not sure when you're here till.

Sure, we should get coffee. I leave for the airport tomorrow afternoon at about 5:00 PM, so we should do something before then. Otherwise, I'll be back on Sunday, August 28th, so we could do something after that.

You're damn right you're beautiful :).

I respect your opinion about Rochester. Hell sometimes I feel like I shouldn't be here as much as I am, but I guess I've always been a very family-oriented person...just don't leave us behind completely :)

Why thank you! Being a family-oriented person is good; I kinda am, but I really needed to get out, I guess. I'll try not to leave you all completely!

I like that you seem to be proud of the fact that you hang out in B&N; a lot of people would just go off about how corporate it is. Have you heard the Rufus Wainright Lyric: "When I get back I'll dream in Barnes & Nobles?" I think it fits you.
Glad that you're having fun in MN, and, yes, you're a beautiful trilingual person.

Heh yes, I am proud of hanging out in Barnes & Noble (especially since I do it often), although I also love smaller individually-owned places such as Magus. Heh yeah, I think it fits me, too. Thanks!
