Never really written a review before, but since this show is my new obsession and I haven't seen anyone review it yet, I thought I'd give it a shot.
Recap
Since this was the first part of a two part episode it was basically a built-up to next week and we were introduced to a couple of new characters.
The first we get to meet is Anna, who's been held in a psychiatric hospital because she claims she can hear the angels talk to each other. When a demon breaks in to hear room to capture her alive (it's a great benefit to know what the other side is discussing) we also find out she has telekinetic powers.
The second one we meet is Alastair, someone who Dean knows from his time in hell and who apparently has it really in for him.
Throughout the episode the boys are again helped by Ruby and the latter saves Anna and hides her when the demons get to close. Dean is still not sure about Ruby and her motives, but when Sam tells him how she has helped him and even saved his life in the time Dean was in hell he changes his mind a little.
When Dean and Sam finally meet up with Ruby and Anna again the angels Castiel and Uriel make another of their flashy appearances only to shock everyone by announcing that there coming for Anna because she has to die.
My opinion
It had a little less funny moments than the rest of the season thus far, but giving everything that's happening it was quite understandable. Fortunately there were still plenty of scenes that made me smile:
- 1-900-Angel
- Ruby as a big black maid
- BFF with a demon
- Dean apologizing (he fails again - of course)
I really liked Anna (great eyes) and I felt sorry for her; demons are after her to use her ability and the angels are after her to prevent that from happening.
We finally learn that Sam has actually had sex with Ruby when he tells Dean about it. Dean feels dirty after Sam shares too much detail, but that was about it, which kinda disappointed me - I just imagined him freaking out so much more :(
Uriel really is one bad-ass angel, but I kinda like the approach the writers are taking here - areas of grey everywhere.
Looking forward to next week's episode - I've seen and read some promising spoilers :D
