Be sure to water it with deionized water instead of tap water. I think you can buy deionized water at the grocery store or a store like walmart.

is deionized water the same as distilled water (like water for irons)? What about tap water that's been boiled?

Nar its somethin different, I'll ask my friend here who has a bunch of venus fly traps where she gets it. Until then, maybe give it Brita filtered water if you've got it. I think the crappola in the tap water pisses them off.

It appears distilled water will work. Also, after they eat something the "mouth" will eventually dry up and fall off.

Cool, thanks! Yes, I read about the mouths falling off. And how you're not supposed to poke it so the mouths close w/o a bug. ^^;;

Isn't it supposed to be catching its own food anyway?

well, ya know. T__T I was concerned for its well-being, since it's tiny and whatnot. But now I'm not, since it seems quite capable and leaves HORRIBLE, DESSICATED BUG BODIES lying around after it feeds.
