We have the Malm! We have the connecting side tables and the "breakfast tray"--great for watching movies on the laptop, provided you have a good set of pillows behind you. Totally worth every cent!
The actual bed frame is really sturdy if you ask me. We have stuff in the drawers, but they are small drawers so as long as you don't stuff them or lay too much weight atop the tables, they should be ok. (They don't rest on the ground, which is why I'm asking.) The tray is LONG so it's awkward to move.
Me and the husband are each 20+ lbs overweight, don't forget.
Oh I have to completely disagree with the Malm bed. I have (had) the same bed and have had nothing but major issues with the bed. Though everyone i know who has had an Ikea bed says the same thing. :( they are cute beds however it lasted a month before the slats were slipping every two minutes and this is probably my incompetence but part of the foot board at the end of the bed would become dislogged a bit. However it is a very comfortable bed and I too have the table-over-bed thing and adore it. Next bonus at work is going to a new non Ikea bed and a place that assembles it in my house.
