I also meant to ask - is there any livejournal commmnity/user I can find that made different styles of that "rip" brush image you used in your tutorial, or did you make it?

What program do you use?

I press shift and h and it brings up the hue/saturation/lightness box. Where it says saturation, bring the bar down and it will desaturate. Thats how I do it anyway.

Wow I love this tutorial. Adding to my memories.

But I have two very stupid questions. I use PSP 8. First, how do I make the gradient? And second, for step 10, I selected the marker brush, but I can't change the hardness. Do you know why?

And finally, when i did this tutorial, my icon looks really different, like this:

hmm.
The opacity in step 03 and step 07 I'd change to a lower setting. Just a guess.

I don't have PSP8, so I can't really tell you where it's all at.
I would suggest browsing the memories of icon-tutorial to find out how. :)
