Richard Dale Guymon was my stepfather. Thank you so much for your kind words of him. It really means a lot to myself and my family to read stories of how he touched so many lives. I saw you mentioned you only have one picture of his. If you would like another, please feel free to let me know. I attended in his classes many times and it's amazing you remember as much as you do. I feel at times, I am starting to forget, but then I read something that brings so much of it back. I have belongings also I'm sure he would appreciate to be donated also. (i.e. textbooks, police memorabilia, etc.) Again, thank you and God Bless!

It is nice to hear from you. I have to ask how you found this page? I am glad you did and that it made you happy. I would love to talk to you sometime and even get a picture or two. I framed his "flyer" from the funeral and have that black and white pic but more would be great. Eventually, when I get the charity up and running, I will need a real good pic for the website. Please keep in touch

Anytime. As I said, feel free to contact me. My mom, myself, and the rest of our family are very honored at the effort you are placing into setting up a charity at Maple Woods. To us, it seems as if the school in general really didn't care about his life or death. We have been told there was a tree planted in memorial for him; however, none of us were involved or invited to the ceremony. I was actually looking to see if his obit was located anywhere on the www. When I put in his name followed by Kansas City, Missouri, your page was one of the first to appear. I have since fowarded it to my mother, my sister, and my brother. They are all in the same awe as myself. We would all be willing to help, that is, if you would need or want it. Anything you can think of please let us know. What station for KC are you located if you don't mind my asking? To give a little more about dad: he was a police officer in Sedalia, Chief of Claycomo, MO, Chief of Oakview, MO, and when he passed, he was an LT for the Clay County Sheriff's Department under ( ... )

I actually don't work for KCMO. I work on the Kansas side of the line, in a small town called Tonganoxie, just west of KCK. Chris Johnson of Clay County Sheriff and Derrick Hagar of Kearney PD and I all became friends while attending Guymons classes. We are all cops now and about two years ago I came up with "Badges of Compassion" I called Derrick to help and we sat down and designed a website and a mission statement. Chris Johnson wanted in so we became the founders I guess you could say. We all knew Guymon had to be a focal point of it all. Unfortunately, life hit all of us. Derrick got married, Chris is getting married, I just became single from a long time girlfriend and we have yet to get it off the ground. The premiss is simple. Cops go out one Saturday a month and do somekind of charity work, whether it be cleaning up a rundown parking lot, deliver books to kids, soup kitchen work ect. and follow it up with a big party twice a year to raise funds for the charity and scholorship. Sounds simple but I have yet to find ( ... )
