I visited Buckland Abbey over Easter. I was really very impressed with Francis' home, it is set in beautiful gardens and lush green farming fields.
The building does look a little severe, but inside it is really quite a pleasant home.
The property was badly damaged by fire in 1938, but there are still some parts of the original home remaining.
The great Hall is much as it was when Francis lived here. The floor and the timber paneling are original
Francis left us an Easter gift
There was scant mention of Thomas, of course, but as there was a table inviting me to try writing with the pen and ink,so I took the opportunity to leave some messages from our Gentleman around the house. :P
