Wake The Muse:Comment Fic-A-Thon

Jun 19, 2011 20:09

I know several writers are gearing up, muddling through or finishing their works for IDF on July 16th. (I think that's the day) It's not something I'm very familiar with, I am however VERY familiar with having my 'muse' fall asleep and leave me abandoned to fend for myself for creativity.

In February damelola posted an incredible Comment Fic-A-Thon that MANY of us found unable to ignore. (Check it out if you missed it dvlwears-prada.livejournal.com/1747191.html) The response was fantastic. So many wonderful prompts were posted and I know I for one was inspired to write one of my best (for me) works. The pieces of writing that everyone added were among some of the best posted to our community.

Soooooo, I thought, why not give it another try. I sure could use the inspiration. Maybe it will encourage some newbies, pull some oldies out of retirement and just plain give us some awsome reading material.

Okay, for the next week please leave prompts as a comment to this post.  To write for the prompt, simply respond in another comment as a reply to the original comment.  I'm gonna leave the post open until next Sunday June 26 at 11.59 CST.
Here's how to do it to keep it all organized:

1. PROMPTS Use your imagination! Songs, poems, quotes, commercial jingles, pics (keep 'em small tho) or maybe some scene running through your head and you'd like to see someone bring it to life.
Post them like this so we can all stay on the same page
          Pairing: ie Miranda/Andrea, Emily/Serena/Lily, Any
What you want to see: ie Singing in the shower or "What part of 'That'sAll' do you not understand?"

2. RESPONSES Please make sure you give it a title (It's SO much easier for people to find it again when they know the title) MOST IMPORTANT RATING Rate your story! It's very very necessary. Especially R or NC17. It's up to the writer to interpret the prompt but please honor the pairing (or lack of). After all, that's what the prompter is jonesing for. If, as all we readers hope, your story is too long for a comment, post it to your journal or the community and post the link, don't let us miss it!

3. FEEDBACK THAT'S WHY WE DO IT!!! Sure we write for ourselves too, but the true joy is when someone else enjoys what we create. Please let the writers know how much you enjoyed their work.

Alright, let's get this show on the road...Ready, Set...POST!!!

P.S. Some helpful info from writtensword:

"I not so much have a question, it's more of a general tip for people, because I noticed at the last ficathon that people had trouble navigating through all the nestled comments.

I found that the easiest way to read the stories, is to simply click on (Thread) in the original prompt comment, and then it will load a new page with ALL the replies, expanded and ready to read in the correct order. Maybe this will help, because I'm still getting comments on my last stories from the other ficathon, with people saying that they cannot find all the parts of a fic."

Thanks a million for the info!
