So there's a
trailer out for the upcoming doom movie. Get this though, it's not demons from hell, it's demons from some sort of genetic experiment/research. Sorry guys but that makes it not-doom. Also, there have already been
one movie, oh, wait,
and two movies using that plot.

The first I actually enjoyed uniquely, in that I think it would be awesome if playing a video game could be like watching that movie. I'm not quite sure how to explain, but imagine instead of watching a movie, you're playing a game and making decisions, interacting, yadda yadda. As a movie it's prolly so-so.
Problem with Doom 3 is that they needed to release 2 games. One was the Doom 3 they did release. What they should have done is simultaneously re-released Doom / Doom II, with the gameplay left untouched, only with modern-level textures, models and lighting. That way people wouldn't complain that Doom 3 isn't Doom-like-enough, because they could have their nostalgia fix, and then enjoy Doom 3 for the different sort of FPS they have there.
But yeah. Hey.

Doom's movie plot has been molested, but it originally it was going to take place on Earth so setting it on Mars is as close to the original plot of the base on Mars' moons. Still the genome thing rather then demons is bad.

I actually saw an updated doom trailer recently and it supposedly is now people transforming because of going through a "wormhole" or somesuch. I still don't get their aversion to the old classic "it's hell we're fighting" theme. They get bonus points for guts and/or humor for actually having part of the movie be in first-person though. heh
