Okay, so I thought I lived in a county full of no fabric love. Until, I found out that this awesome fabric store in NYC called PurlSoho....has a warehouse that is located 1.9 miles down the street from my office and is opened to people who can find it!!! They do not advertise, however, if you can find them they are happy to sell fabric to you. ( Read more... )

uh oh.. I smell trouble! It's SO hard for me to stay away from the fabric stores!!

I love the pillows you made, great job! And the Japanese fabric is gorgeous. Is it 54" ? Usually the "thicker" fabric is 54" wide home dec fabric (as opposed to 42-44" wide regular cotton fabric.)

hahha...i definitely understand your love for fabric stores. I really never thought i'd appreciate this stuff, until my sister suckered me in..now I love it. Be prepared for sewing questions from me :)

Here is the link to the line of fabric I bought:

Maybe you can tell me more about what I bought...it feels heavy almost like a canvas...I think you're right when you say home decore fabric.

Oh it's 44" but yeah it says it's home dec weight. I enjoy using home dec weight fabric.

I almost forgot...thank you for the compliment...there is something really satisfying about finishing a sewing project. I can't wait to graduate to other projects that are not simple squares :)

I love your fabrics! Do you use a sewing machine or do you sew by hand? I'm a novice at that sort of thing too. Last time I sewed anything was by hand in high school and it took me forever!

Thank you and its so good to see you pop back into LJ :)

I use a sewing machine...but I sew the stuffing hole shut by hand. I kinda like the hand stiching look. I bought my sewing machine from Overstock.com and it was a reburbished machine ontop of that. In the end I paid 90 bucks for a machine to learn how to sew on. I feel really good about that...before searching on Overstock I was scoping out craigslist.

Check it out...they still have the refurbished model that I bought:

I got my Brother machine at Walmart for about $100 and I use the crap out of it and it's still going strong! I really like Brother machines!

Also another friend of mine got her Brother on Overstock and it's doing great as well.

Thank you, Annesta! The best part of sewing is the hunt for beautiful fabric.
