Following up on my angsty thread, I'm putting up an open one-card draw thread with the Medicine Cards. These cards help you connect with the animal energies around you and the lessons they have for you

Your card is Opossum. Possum is here to tell you to be clever or deploy strategy in your current situation. You may have to back off or pretend to retreat in order to fully suss out a situation -- "play possum," as it were. Remember to use your instinct and trust it. Possum reminds us that the best way to deal with those who are trying to hurt us or taunt us is to refuse to rise to the bait when others attempt to hurt us, if we essentially go limp or play dead. If you have someone in your life who is trying to cause trouble for you, refuse to engage. Beware of assuming a defensive posture. You have all you need to triumph over a given situation -- use your wits, trust your gut, and be willing to employ the element of surprise.
Your card is Bat, reversed. Bat shows up in your cards to tell you about death, rebirth, and transition. A reversed Bat encourages you to look at areas of your life that may have goen stagnant -- especially around creativity and emotion. Are you refusing to do what will serve your Highest Good? Are you following old patterns for the sake of the familiar or because it's what you "should" do? Bat tells you that you are about to birth something. In order to ease your labor, so to speak, Bat encourages you to think in terms of opportunity rather than obstacles. If you have a tendency to focus on all the reasons why something is a bad idea or why you should not do something, Bat encourages you to come at this from the other angle and deconstruct your objections. Bat also tells you that you have the intelligence, wits, and courage to birth a new life, if only you will get out of you own way. This may mean that some things that are no longer working have to die, but this is necessary for new growth. Allow the old to die, mourn it as

Your card is Porcupine, reversed. Porcupine comes into your life to tell you to remember to play. Cultivate a sense of silliness, of levity, and of joy. Porcupine also tells you to cultivate a sense of trust and innocence. If you are coming out of a period in your life when you have become jaded or wary, Porcupine reminds you to let go of old hurts. You still want to trust your instincts, of course, but also be aware of old tapes that are playing in your head that may be making you more cautious than you need to be. Porcupine helps you learn to trust again -- cultivate a sense of trust and approach new experiences with a new eye. Even if you are entering into situations you think you recognize, be willing to look at them as though they are new. Don't assume you know how things will turn out or that you will be hurt again -- instead, be willing to experience joy, love, and freedom. Don't take yourself too seriously! Be willing to let go and play.
Your card is Coyote. Coyote comes into your life to remind you of the power of laughter and fun. It is important to laugh at yourself, to not take yourself too seriously right now. However, Coyote also reminds you to look at areas that you may be deceiving yourself or sabotaging yourself. The nature of Trickster energy is that it is two-sided in this way: Coyote encourages you to find the silliness in the world, to play, but also to beware of tricking yourself. You may be called upon to lighten up tense situations at this time -- use Coyote's energy to help you break the tension with a joke, point out the absurdity in the situation, or otherwise get people to pull the stick out of their asses. You may be confronted with leaders or teachers who take themselves Very Seriously or purport to know it all or be all-powerful -- your role in this situation will be to take the wind out of their sails with a well-timed does of Trickster energy. This is never mean-spirited -- it is a sacred duty and is done for the good of the group. (And Coyote
