Summary: The Doctor tries to take Jack back to Cardiff.

Jack stood there in the TARDIS, looking at the console with a sad look in his eyes. He knew he had to go back to Torchwood. He wanted to. It was where he belonged. And he had people he had to look after. Losing Tosh and Owen had been devastating to them, but he still had Ianto and Gwen to be there for. He wouldn’t leave the now. Not willingly anyway.
He looked over at the Doctor, his expression turning from sad to worried. Having to return Donna hadn’t been easy. He could tell. The burden that he had to carry had to be insurmountable. Even he couldn’t fathom it. If he could, he would be there for the Doctor. He wished he could stay, sometimes more than anything. It just wasn’t the right time yet. In the future, maybe? When all the others were gone.
“Doctor…”
He gave the Doctor a huge grin. Stepping around the inner TARDIS, he reached up and placed a hand gently on his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. He just wished he could do so much more for the man, but there wasn’t anything he could do.
“I have to go home.”
Little did they know, the TARDIS had other plans for them…
