evolution and religion

most of you know I am a very scientifically minded person, and yet I still hold room in my views for some supernatural activity...
I came across this quote from pope John Paul II while helping my love research a paper she is writing on intelligent design, and whether it should be accepted by the general populace.

Ask any protestant: the Pope is NOT the highest authority figure in Christianity.

That's part of the problem.

The only widely accepted authority figures in Christianity are the ethereal boogums of God and Jeesus.

and not to forget his sidekick Bobo the golden rhinoceros

damn Martin Luther and making the lives of all who would make arguments involving the church and it's silliness infinitely more difficult

it almost reminds me of the time I got a Muslim stoner to admit that Judaism, Christianity and Islam where all effectively the same religion, granted that it was a battle of wits against a hampered opponent, but the entertainment value remains the same
