1.yes, alot of the kids basiclly find "trend" and trying to be different in being either emo..fashioncore..or whatever so when they do dress like that.. they tend to find out where everyone else like"them" goes to hangout or goes to shows to look all the same.
but let me just note; some real people like myself are more into the music and not caring if they are or not wearing a black hoodie with a pair of knucks going to a throwdown show it just makes no scence and it is way LAME.
2.well, it some case's the most talented are under paid sometimes, because they aren't so much into the "scene" to where kids actually want to wear there t-shirts and hoodies. some are though.. to where they are so caught up into the "scene" that when there next album comes out it just sounds the same cause they just want to make money like the last album so they don't change.

sadly, the scenes (no matter what style of music)have become more a fashion show than a music show. someday the shows will be about the music, and no one will care about how you look or who is there. just people who want to have a good time with the music they love. not how the love their hair

I go to the shows trying not to care about how I look but it just never happens. Basically if you don't look like a scene kid then people doubt you, that's way lame but that's the way it is.
