Skyfall Review

The title lies. I don't really want to write a review at all. I'd rather write reams and reams of delicious meta because this film was so perfect in so many different ways. Skyfall enters my top five Bond film list, alongside Casino Royale, Goldeneye, Goldfinger and From Russia with Love. Skyfall earns extra points for being similar to my guilty

Haha fair enough... Bond is a bit of an acquired taste. I was indoctrinated young but I think Craig Bond is way superior to all other efforts other than Connery.

I think it matters hugely (or should do, if the writers aren't wimps next time) that Eve Moneypenny is a former field agent. Because she knows just what it's like out there, having to make fast, hard decisions that could mean the death of a man, or of a colleague and friend.

FWIW I ADORE TWiNE! It's my favourite of the Brosnan!Bond films...

I agree re Moneypenny- it should be interesting. Also, now she is technically equal to Bond, but just chose a different position. Very cool.

OMG SOMEONE ELSE AGREES WITH ME. I LOVE LOVE LOVE TWINE. I think it was coz M did stuff tbh. Love that scene where she is trying to get the batteries out of the timer or whatever they were.

Isn't it fab? I got a friend to make me that TWiNE icon because I adore Michael Kitchen's Tanner's interactions with M. It's so funny the way he goes from "She's the 'Evil Queen of Numbers'" in Goldeneye to having her back (literally) in TWiNE - and how much he hates her going off to meet Elektra when they both know it's a trap. She's all "I'm going anyway, deal with it"... And his face is all "Noooo! Don't go M!"

And yes, Moneypenny is Bond's equal. I hope they play up that aspect.

Actually, did I tell you to find TWINE? I have a feeling I did because of Kitchen aka Foyle? So glad you like it anyway! I like TWINE because of M/Tanner and Elektra. As a kid, when I first saw TWINE, I thought her storyline was sadder and more compelling than most other Bond films. The only bad part of that film is that terrible Bond girl. Without her it would be in my top 5.

Definitely! Craig's scripts have offered a lot more innovative writing angles so far. I hope they continue to do so- it makes Bond far more interesting.
