Clara was amazing!! I can't wait to see how her story goes, and Jenna Louise Coleman is just plan perfect right now. And all the Sherlock references were brilliant.
I do plan on watching the Les Miserables film sometime. It'll be once it's out on DVD but I'll let you know what it's like to someone who hasn't seen the musical!
I too love Sweeney Todd! I didn't find Alice in Wonderland disappointing at all though. In fact it's one of my favourite films!
Sure is. It was like Disney tried to 'do' Burton. For maybe half of Alice, I thought it was all fine, but the chosen one rubbish was clearly inserted in by Disney. It just didn't fit with Burton at all.
Clara <3 So perfect and brilliant and awesome, and I /loved/ the second, I think it was the second, ladder scene when she had Eleven climb up first and then snarked at the ice lady while standing on it before tapping it to be lifted. SO GOOD. I mean, most of all of it was good. And Vastra and Jenny - two mentions! I just. :D I adore those two, and I can't wait to see them again. Oh, and Strax! Such a fun sontaran he is. Heh - the worm XD "Sir, emergency! I think I've been run over by a cab! D:" HILARIOUS laughing just thinking about it XD And that one word scene was quite fabulous, wasn't it? Mesmerising, for some reason. And It had that little gem, when Vastra looked at Jenny and she nodded slightly and they're just such a great team <3

I like Burton's darker films best. My favourite's of his are Sleepy Hollow (one of the most beautiful horror movies ever?), Sweeney Todd, Nightmare, Corpse Bride and Batman Returns.
Oh yes, Sleepy Hollow is wonderful <3 I've been meaning to buy it for ages, but I just never seem to get around to it XD Mm, and Nightmare Before Christmas is great too, and I /think/ I know which one Batman Returns is, and I like that one too. :D He does have some great and gorgeous movies, he really does. Since I haven't seen all, or even most, of them, would you say the majority are great? I mean, that's the impression I get ^^
The only films of his that I'd consider to be truly bad films would be Mars Attacks, Planet of the Apes, Alice in Wonderland and Dark Shadows, though out of those four films Mars Attacks! is still visually interesting and was never meant to be taken seriously and Alice in Wonderland would have been considered an achievement if it had been any other director's film- but it was uninspired coming from Burton.
Can I hug your Doctor Who commentary? That was perfect and a perfect reflection of my own feelings. I loved this special. A Christmas Carol is my hands down fav - but this was gorgeous and very much my second fav. And I've only seen it once! Need to remedy that...
I haven't yet seen Les Miserables (the film or the show actually), but I agree that Moulin Rouge is utterly spectacular, especially the El Tango de Roxanne scene. Have never seen Sweeney Todd either (shock horror! - I know :P) but those two clips looks phenomenal

The Alice thing is something I find super hard to explain to people. It's not that it's a bad film. It's that it's a bad Burton film.

I think I get what you mean. It doesn't feel like Burton's style. It's like someone else tried to make it in his style. Is that what you mean?
