Dug into the house to try to clear a path for the cleaning people to get started from. Thursday night was the kitchen/den/office/son2 room, Friday night yard work, then bedroom clearing. LeftOver Brass' latest song is up, Happy Friday Eve to You.  It is a new jazzy instrumental, with a few extra over-driven electric guitar bits thrown in now and then to help celebrate the upcoming end of the week and the resulting glorious weekend.  Upbeat, and though a bit self-interested, still some fun moments. 

Turns out The Corsairs are 'in the studio' to work on a new album of new tunes while they are not performing this year.   This is less good than performing at (our local ren faire) Scarborough Faire this year, but better than nothing.

Worked on a new piece notionally called "Chihuahua Blues", but I am not completely happy with the first pass melody notation yet. Read more background on the Blues, and took a short online course on blues music. Not tremendously helpful, but interesting.   And it all helps on context.  Also, it is great that stuff like this is available online, ( Read more... )

Finished "Was She Faithful (while I was in jail)?" with lyrics Sunday, but did not get the vocals done yet.
Poor "Left Cheek" Amaraetti is out of jail on probation now (so he was NOT at the library), but asks the rest of the band how his girl was while he was away. The band's responses are unconvincing, if not self-incriminating.
