Sometimes things are just too weird, even for me...

So, for those of you who don't know, I'm in a acting group of sorts called the Lord Mayor's Company that performs at some of the Renaissance festivals in the area. Our first one of the season, OKRF starts this weekend. Since I have today off, I went down into the basement to get my costume out of its plastic tub and wash it as part of the packing ( Read more... )

Poor bird....

Ok, now that I've had my moment of sadness for the dead bird - EWWWW! I would have reacted very loudly and very girly.

On another note - good luck this weekend! Have fun. :)

Thanks! I felt sad for the bird, too. I like birds, and what an awful way to go, trapped in some human's clothing box.

Before we had our new HVAC put in birds used to fall down the chimney and get stuck at the bottom. I could hear them flying about and trying to get out while I was doing laundry. I couldn't help them and it depressed me and made me cry every time. Luckily most of the prisoners escaped once Wm would get home and open a door at the bottom of the chimney. They'd fly around the basement and eventually work their way to the garage and go out the open door.

The way our old furnace was set up most of the birds didn't get cremated when the unit turned on, but they certainly were a bit too warm for comfort. But hearing the scratching on the interior of the chimney is something I won't forget. Thankfully with the new system there is a cap on the chimney and they can't get in.

My younger sister, at the precocious age of 8 or so, dressed up for a church Halloween party. She put on a black sweatshirt and sweatpants, painted her face white, smudged big dark circles under her eyes, put on red lipstick, and topped off her outfit with a feathery Mardi Gras mask our father had sent her. When one of our fellow churchgoers at the party asked: "And what are you, little girl?" she nonchalantly replied "I'm a dead bird."

Yeah, I never thought I would say this, but I would much rather have found the traditional big hairy spider that one finds when opening old boxes.

I can't handle spiders at all, but I am right there with ya. Eeek.

Hmm, too bad Schrodinger's cat didn't get stuck in there too, it might have gotten out on its own after eating the bird and now there'd be less cleanup.

Birds have strange powers that allow them to die in extremely odd places.

We had problems with a toilet backing up in our house a couple of months ago. Called the plumber, he tried snaking it out with no luck, so he pulled the toilet off its moorings and found a frakkin' bird stuck in the plumbing! Not as if it had fallen in, but as if it had crawled into the pipe from inside the wall. And he said that it happens all the time. Weird, weird, weird.

I think that poor bird must have died even more unhappy than mine. Well, that's what you get for having a crappy superpower. ;)
