Background information: Fire and Hemlock (again)- Leslie's been watching Polly
Drabble:
They’re talking about him. Leslie shakes his head; he knows what Tom’s trying, kindly if misguidedly to do. Leslies are for Pollys after all. But Leslie’s worked out something Tom hasn’t- Polly’s not as fragile as she looks.
Leslie wonders why Tom’s trying to foist her off on him when the last thing she’d do is turn to Leslie (he kissed her once, she didn’t care). Perhaps Tom feels his age.
There’s clanking; something’s fallen. Screaming, metallic noises. Tom, groaning. All Leslie can think is; if Polly’s strong enough to pick up a portcullis, she’s strong enough to stick with Tom.
101 words, I went mad trying to cut one out and then gave up.
