000 - Rise robot rise

His name was called- yet he only awakened, the word falling deaf upon his ears.

Glass rose before his eyes, his bed feeling more like a metal coffin, and all things beneath his touch, gaze, and scope felt cold and lifeless; and, coldest of all, the light that bathed him as he rose, feeling the grinding of gears and pistons bringing his heavy body to his feet. He fought to see through the pale curtain before him, but only made out a vague human form... or perhaps demonic, with the shadow of batlike wings upon his head.

"Who are you..?"

The dark figure's hands rose, some ghastly drape hanging off of its body and blotting the light from his eyes. Even then, the world around him seemed to fade to mist.

"You... my greatest work..."

"Who ARE you?!"

The demonic figure stood at its full height- almost ever-growing- its darkness and reach bleeding out into the world around it. Where once was blinding light, there was now only creeping, spreading shadow.

"Him! Him! My nemesis! My rival! My... hatred!"

All too suddenly, the fiend seemed to lose himself. It receded, almost weakened; the light slowly began returning. Though no eyes were there to be seen in the shadows, he could feel the wretched sting of its gaze, the breath of life absent in his lungs.

"Now... go. Dispose of him... all he has done. That is... your duty..."

One last glimmer of that frigid light cascaded over his form before the world seemed to return to normal. By the time life returned to his body- and breath to his lungs- that... monster was nowhere to be seen. "Wait! WAIT!" One last push, one last reach was given out to the fading mists-

And he reeled. The frozen, wretched cold was within him. Within his head. He struggled. He fell to his knees. He gripped his head, almost wishing he could tear it open.

He screamed.

The rest was only terror in his heart, blood upon his hands, and drowning in a sea of shredded mechanical corpses, all bathed in red.
