Obviously this episode is the introduction of the Daleks to New Who. If you were new to the Doctor Who mythos, what did you think? If you were already familiar with the Daleks, what did you think of the way it was used? In retrospect, has any of that changed? I knew of them as famous Doctor Who villains, but I had no idea how RTD was going to use them- as the impetus for the destruction of all Time Lords. Personally, I liked all the parallels between the two deeply damaged survivors of the Time War. The Doctor, capable of so much emotion, and the Dalek, capable of so little, and yet they were almost the same because of the amount of destruction they'd faced.
So much has changed in retrospect. GIVE THE DALEKS A BREAK ALREADY. This story had so much power because it was an examination of the detritus of war, but throwing the Daleks in as villains EVERY SINGLE SEASON honestly does a massive amount to dilute the strength of the Time War storyline.
This episode also highlights, again, the difference between Rose and the Doctor, as

This episode was actually my first episode of Doctor Who I EVER watched. :') So yeah, I had NO idea that the Daleks were especially important or significant. I mean, the Doctor's reaction indicates that they are somewhat significant to him, but I didn't really know just HOW important. I do think that this episode does a pretty decent job of setting up just how dangerous they are. I mean, Daleks look a bit silly, so it was important that this episode establish how lethal they can be.
2. This episode also highlights, again, the difference between Rose and the Doctor, as Rose unwittingly extends compassion towards the Dalek which winds up not only freeing it, but also ultimately destroying it. What do you think this episode does for Rose as a character? What about her

This so much. The Daleks are so overdone in New Who. And it doesn't even always make sense how they are brought back. I love the Dalek's, don't get me wrong, but there are so many other awesome villains. And lots of Old Who ones we haven's seen or have only seen once.
I mean, I know the reasons why they do it (have to do it once a season to retain the rights), but that doesn't make it any less annoying.
If you were new to the Doctor Who mythos, what did you think?
Lol, I had heard of the Daleks before, but I thought this would be the last time we ever saw them--like, one epp devoted to this Classic Who villain, and this really was the last Dalek ever!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! How innocent and unspoiled I was....
Love the Shipper!Dalek though, I feel like this is one of the epps that contributed to me shipping them.

"I'm not crying. It's just been raining.... on my face."
And also, this is a pretty funny parallel gif to the gif of Ten standing looking sad and standing in the rain.
