Apologies for being so late with the post today! Both mods were out most of the day, but it's before midnight in my timezone, so it still counts as being on time imo!
1. There's some debate on this, so do YOU think that the Mickey/Rose relationship ends here? What do you think about their conversations in this episode? How do you think each of them has handled their relationship thus far? Yeah, I think the relationship ends here. I mean, I think it was already over, really. But this is a more clear end. I mean, Mickey was going to go out on a date with another girl before Rose called and summoned him to Cardiff. And then at the end of the episode, Rose decides to leave without saying goodbye to Mickey. Although LOL THESE TWO REALLY NEED TO HAVE A FRANK DISCUSSION ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP. Because like, Mickey was trying to move on with his life (even though he hadn't officially broken up with Rose), but then he suggests that he and Rose find a hotel. And Rose is really invested in her life with the Doctor, but likes to think that Mickey will be back at home waiting for her.
2. In light of this, what do you make of the Doctor/Rose relationship at this point? Where is the Doctor in his feelings for
( ... )
IA on Q2. I think the Doctor is sort of increasingly aware that he's in way too deep with Rose, but I think she's still stuck on the life and the adventure and maybe having a bit of a flirt (maybe having Jack along has upped the ante a little in terms of flirting but I don't think she's really serious about it). It's not until BW/TPotW where I see Rose realising her feelings.
1. At the time, I THOUGHT it ended, but then in Christmas Invasion, it sort of seemed like they were still together, so I don't know. I'm not sure either of them knew either.
2. I thought it was pretty obvious, when the Doctor was watching longingly on the viewscreen as Rose walks off with Mickey, and Jack sort of casually calls him out on it. LOL
3. I think the three of them have been on a few offscreen adventures at this point, because they really seem to be functioning well as a team. No awkwardness about Jack being there.
4. It's interesting, because at first, he's just like, "Well, just doing my job! Making sure justice is served." But when she starts telling him the details, you can tell he's starting to have doubts. I don't know what he would have ended up doing if things hadn't taken an abrupt turn like they did. Maybe he would have changed his mind.
Oh, and THANK YOU for that link! I've always wanted to see Genesis of the Daleks, but I don't think it's on Netflix Streaming.
I think Mickey/Rose has been over for a while in all real levels -- I mean in Father's Day Rose says she's single and in TEC the psychic paper says she's available or whatever ughhhhhhhh so I think Mickey/Rose has had its day by this point. Plus Mickey's dating someone else
( ... )
Rose ~summoning~ him was probably not the best idea but MICKEY YOU HAVE BEEN SEEING SOMEONE WHILE NOT YET OVER ROSE WHO YOU ARE PREPARED TO CHEAT ON AT A MOMENT'S NOTICE* AND THEN GET BUTTHURT WHEN SHE RUNS OFF BECAUSE THE WORLD IS ENDING.
*tbh it's Rose so I understand your feelings but keep it in your pants
the most frustrating thing from my PoV is it's still not really over after these episodes. in the finale she goes home and Mickey is like WE COULD HAVE A LIFE TOGETHER and I'm like dude, shut up even if I appreciate how he does come around and help out.
I LIKE MICKEY A LOT, BUT IN BOOM TOWN HE'S KINDA A DICK. I DON'T LIKE CHEATERS. I HOPE TRICIA DELANEY DUMPED HIS ASS.
and on Q4, I do like a lot of the stuff between Blon and Nine but sometimes it's frustrating because she's all "only a killer would know that". And ok, Nine has killed a lot of people but NOT FOR PROFIT AND/OR LOLS. I get why the Doctor would feel guilty about the comparison due to the deaths he's caused but I get frustrated when the show sometimes equates him with the baddies without always acknowledging that he only accepts this comparison because he's an emotional wreck.
I agree so hard with this. New Who has made this big thing of the Doctor causing death and destruction, even to the point of implying/stating that even the awful things that the baddies do are his fault somehow, because... what? Because he fights them? True, the Doctor isn't perfect. He makes mistakes that cost lives, and he's guilty of a lot of things. But still, *the bad guys are the ones who start shit*.
It really gets bad during Eleven's run, though. I wanted to smack River when she made that big speech to him about how "you make them so afraid". You know what, baddies? If you're scared of the Doctor, don't do evil crap, and he won't fuck up your day! How's that?
Yeah. I mean one of the things I like is that the Doctor does do questionable stuff sometimes and the text calls him out on it (or... um, it used to). But then you do get stuff like -- lol people getting mad at him for killing the Racnoss or the Sontarans or whatever, and it's kind of like, "well I mean, he did TRY to get them to back off, he did offer alternatives, they refused, so.....?"
lol and it's especially ridic with the Daleks. THEY ARE ROBOT NAZIS. I REGRET NOTHING ABOUT THEIR DESTRUCTION.
