lol this ep. i love it.

1. It's all how you define personhood really. These individuals were clearly capable of thought and pain, therefore, Ten was right IMO.

2. ELEVEN!! lol. I'm really excited for next week, ok?

3. I thought the bit with Cassandra was sweet. I mean it clearly made her happy, Ten was happy, Rose was happy.... are we sure RTD was the writer here?

4. I love Billie Piper doing comedy, so she wins here.

5. Completely. Scotland isn't bad, but this one's a slam dunk. Poor bb has no idea.

His pointy fingers are killing me. This is what Eleven would've looked like in Fear Her, totally.

In this episode Ten kisses Rose, reforms the bad guy, sees the birth of a new species and saves the day by hugging. It's pretty much all downhill from here for him isn't it?

Hee! Also, yes.

4. lol it's a toss-up for me too. I think Billie is GREAT, and I wish I got to see her do more comedy in things. But she also has most of the empathy and development and whatever that Cassandra gets in this episode. Cassandra Ten's few minutes of screentime are just nonstop hilarity, lol.

5. lol yeah, I'm always shocked now when I go back and watch s2 and see how happy Ten is, lmao. IT'S SO WEIRD AND FOREIGN. Sorry buddy. lol, just now I realized that of the numerous icons I have uploaded of Ten alone, I have only one where he looks happy. LOLOLOL.

I haven't done that yet (listen to Song for Ten followed by the reprise). Maybe the next time I'm feeling sad I'll do that since I like to make myself sadder for some reason.

Ten's arc is quite honestly the saddest thing about the whole damn show. He starts out SO happy and bouncy and chipper and there's so much for him to enjoy and then by the time he regenerates he has lost EVERYTHING and is MISERABLE.

YUP. Poor baby. :(

I haven't tried listening to both Songs for Ten back-to-back, but I might have to do that now. I don't know why I do these things to myself...

I enjoy the hell out of this episode. It's not the best-plotted, or the best-scienced, but it's got cat nuns (who hiss and wave their claws very cutely when cornered), the Face of Boe, the introduction of the "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry" catchphrase and the "little shops" running gag, the first of Ten's many snogs (and the debut of his post-snog gobsmacked expression), Billie Piper doing *terrible* Cockney rhyming slang, and David Tennant making Graham Norton look like Chuck Norris. :-)

How bad is the science in this episode on a scale of one to ten?

Pret-ty bad. But then turning on Doctor Who and expecting to see painstaking, realistic application of science is like going to a doughnut shop looking for pizza.

What did you think of Cassandra this time around? We see more of her in this episode and she also has some development. Did you think it was well done? What about the implied time loop of the last person to ever tell her she's beautiful being... her? Was that a sweet ending, or just a bit weird?

How about sweet *and* weird?

In general I wish DW had given Billie more comedy to work with because she can be very funny. She's excellent in Secret Diary. I guess by s2 they'd already established Rose as not an exceptionally funny character, but still. It's definitely fun to see her do a bit of that here.

Scotland's not too bad neither is meeting with Sarah Jane again but everything after that is pretty shitty.

LOL YEAH. I mean not every day is terrible, but I don't think there's much that can compete with the kissing/reforming/hugging combo that this ep has going on. It's like he designed it himself. I think the only change he'd make is that Rose would actually be there in mind as well as body, lol.

lol I disagree actually, series 4 excluded I thought Secret Diary was an excellent show and I always appreciated that it didn't do sex scenes for the sake of it, it did sex scenes because that was a part of Belle's job and her life. (IIRC we never get Hannah sex scenes.)

BUT I DIGRESS. Yeah, it's never really as fluffy as New Earth again. Tooth & Claw is up there and has the added bonus of Rose being Rose, but the disadvantage of him not getting to save everyone with a hug.
