I was thinking how totally in character this would have been for Eleven, Amy, and Rory, especially somewhere in season five. It totally would have worked really well if it had been the three of them instead of a very out of character Ten, Rose, and Mickey. Especially if it had been Rory's first or second trip in the TARDIS. Otherwise the only good things in this episode for me were how visually stunning it was and Sophia Myles, who seemed to have a real sense of fun in the character. I liked Reinette, just not as a love interest for the Doctor. That was unnecessary. Also, her role in history was way bigger than this portrays her as and I think she is significantly short-changed by that. Otherwise I'm just a sad little shipper all the way with this ep.
1. I liked the magic door just fine. I liked the whole "villains that are not really villains" aspect to the robots, since they weren't really evil (just badly programmed), especially in contrast with the somewhat inexplicable evil werewolf who was just evil because reasons. And steampunk + Versailles? Sounds good! Were they scary? Eh, a little, at least a first before I knew what was going on. I'm a little at a loss as to HOW they managed to use human parts to work a spaceship because...let's just say that I can think of about a million better alternatives for pumps than a human heart. But therein lies the wonderful mystery of Doctor Who

I do, however, see jealousy as part of her character as it's a trait she exhibits fairly frequently, especially where the Doctor's attentions are concerned. She even does it a bit with Mickey after he tells her he's been seeing Tricia Delaney. I see it as one of those flaws that make her interesting.
This episode was gorgeous and Sophia Myles was wonderful. Her chemistry with David Tennant was positively sparkling.
In fact the two of them dated for a year (and a half?) after making the episode. As far as I know they were well broken up before he got involved with Georgia Moffett, though.
1. I think most of what you describe in this question sums up the things I actually did like about this episode. I loved the contrast between time periods, the clockwork robots and the doorways through time. There was a haunting aspect to how time passed quite differently in each location. Though, I thought the reveal was rather anticlimactic. I figured out that they were hunting after Madame du Pompadour because the ship had the same name. I remember feeling a little confused at one point in the plot (how did the clockwork robots get built in the first place? why they thought organic parts would work with the ship, and exactly how did they work with the ship?!), but it's probably because I was distracted by how uncomfortable the episode made me feel over all

3. I was spoiled about the romantic plot before watching this episode, because I had already fallen head over heals with the Doctor and Rose's building romance. TBH, I wasn't looking forward to watching this episode at all. I was worried how it would rip apart everything I cherished about D/R. So, I went into the episode knowing the Doctor falls in love with someone else. But, as I watched it, I didn't feel his romantic love for her so much as him having more of an infatuation and just being drawn to someone who exhibited an intelligence far beyond his expectations. I could understand her falling in love with him, or loving the fantasy of him that she created in her mind to fill the time gaps as she grew up. Maybe it was my wishful thinking, cause I was doing quite a bit of silent snarling while watching this ep. It didn't make sense for the Doctor to fall in love with her so fast, especially after having just interacted her with a child. But, there are many kinds of love, and SM seems intent on exploring this one, so who knows. Also
