Mark has his hands full. She has giggled through two days of practice for this Paso. She can't seem to help herself and to make it worse, she's taken him down with her. He found himself laughing at her silliness and he was finding it hard to find that stern face he needed. She could hold it together for a few minutes and then out of nowhere, a fit of laughter would emerge.
"Good morning Sabrina. Ready to practice?" Mark looked at her and tried to size up if she could hold a serious face for more than a few seconds. He enjoyed her smile, but he needed her to be stern in order to pull this off.
"Mark, I'm sorry about the past few days. I know I need to be serious for this dance and I'm going to try really hard." Her face is already betraying her words with the hint of a smile emerging.
"I love that you are happy all the time Sabrina...I do. I just need this dance to be...well...um...smileless!" He looked at her and she burst into a laughing fit. It wasn't quite the response he had hoped for.
"I'm sorry." She looked down sheepishly in that way that made him want to kiss her. That simple little way she had of making him goofy acting just by being around her. Did she know the spell she had cast over him? No, she didn't realize what she did to him, and he knew it. She was oblivious to her charming ways and her beguiling smiles.
"Let's just practice the dance and then work on the seriousness. It will come together...we can make this work." He gave her an encouraging smile. He couldn't be harsh with her. She gave everything, she was just happy. "Oh...you are having lunch with me!"
She looked at him with a mischievious grin. "I am? Wow, I didn't even know!" She giggled again. "How is it that you know my plans and I don't?"
"You have plans now and that's all I'm going to say about it. Now...let's get to work. We can nail this Sabrina. We can score that perfect score. I love having fun with you and laughing in here, but we have to pull it together for this performance. Okay?"
She looked a little sad, like she thought he was chastizing her. "Okay." She didn't make eye contact with him and it crushed him.
"I'm sorry baby. That came out a little harsh and that's not how I meant it."
"It's okay. I'm the one who's sorry. I can't seem to pull together one serious performance!"
"Let's run through the dance and see where we are. Okay?"
"Okay."
The two practice up until lunch time. Mark notices her stomach growling before he notices the clock. "You should have told me you were hungry!"
"I'm fine," she lied.
"You're stomach says otherwise. Let's grab a bite to eat. I can't let my favorite partner starve to death."
"Haha...like that's going to happen. I'm fine if you want to continue."
"NO! It's my job to take care of you and that means keeping you nourished. Besides, I have plans for you." He smiled at her mischieviously, leaving her wondering.
He takes her to a small restaurant tucked away in a small corner of the city. After they eat, they get back in his car and he takes her to her house.
"What are we doing here? I don't need anything from home!"
"We are going in, so hop out...let's go!" He grins and she can't help but do as he says.
"I don't get this Mark? What are we doing here?" She looks truly intriqued.
"Let's go in and I'll explain." He walks her to the door and she unlocks it and they go into her living room. He pulls a black hankerchief out of his pocket. "This is your house and you know it pretty well. Do you feel comfortable here?"
"Yes."
"Do you think you know this house well?"
"Yes."
"Do you know how to dance this Paso?"
"Yes."
"Prove it!" He puts the hankerchief over her eyes and gently ties it and speaks gently and softly to her. "You have to depend on your knowledge of this house and me...two things beyond your immediate control. Let me show you how to unleash the fierceness in you. I can tell you have it. I've seen you and watched you when you thought I wasn't looking. Show me how passionate you are. Show me all of your emotions if you want, but show me some fierceness."
He puts the CD he brought with him into her CD player. He leads her to her opening position on her hardwood floor. He starts the music and he drags her across the floor. He watches her and things aren't so perfect, but he hadn't expected it to be. She was growing frustrated after the 4th attempt at their opening, but she hadn't said a word. He wondered if she understood his point in all of this. He was the one having the problem now. He wanted to kiss her so badly. He had been fighting his feelings for her, but today he wanted to give in. He restrained himself and tried hard to concentrate.
"Sabrina, are you listening to the music? Really listening?"
"Yes," she answered. Her simple answers were proof to him that she wanted him to teach her something out of all of this!
"Can you feel the beat?"
"Yes."
"Listen to it. This is a fight between the bull and the matador. You can be fierce and strong and do this. There's nothing to smile about. You have felt our connection...I know you have. I agree that it's there, but I don't want to be with you!"
She jerked the blindfold off. He was grinning. "You jerk!" She punched his arm and spun on her heels to leave, but he caught her arm.
"Come here." He took her arm gently. "I'm making a point. You didn't know I was smiling when I said that. It was what it made you feel that I want you to concentrate on."
"I understand what you're saying. Okay...I can do this." She allows him to put the blindfold back on her.
He secures the blindfold and then runs his finger lightly across the back of her neck. He moves closer and whispers, "you know I lied. I want to be with you. I want to date you, to kiss you, to make love to you. I want you now. Dance for me."
She shuddered as she got a chill up her back. He wasn't touching her anymore, but his breath was whispering over her skin.
"I want you to dance for me. I want you to show me how you feel about me. If I'm scaring you, show me...if you are nervous...show me. Let me see your emotions...Baaabyyy." He drew out his last word and she got chills again.
"Mark..." She began to question but he cut her off.
"Shhh. Dance for me. It's a private show, so whatever your emotions are just display them through this dance. Lose yourself to the music. Make yourself vulnerable. I need to see how you feel. Show me baby." He whispered again. This was the third time today he had called her baby. He had never called her that before. She thought her knees would go weak.
She began to move to the music and take his choreography to a new level. He was watching with anticipation and intrigue. She could do this. She is doing this. She's fierce and in control and fighting with him throughout their dance. They end in their pose and he holds her there a little longer than necessary. He pulls her up and his lips touch hers. It's light and quick. He got a little scared so pulled away quickly. She raises her hands to release the blindfold, but he grabs her hand. "Stop. This may be easier if you keep that on. Please?"
"Okay", she whispered. She lowered her hands to her side and then she took a deep breath in and exhaled slowly, waiting.
"Was there anything that just happened that you want to change?"
"No, well...I would like to see next time." She wasn't being funny and she wasn't smiling. She was serious and in this moment.
"I really want things to change."
"I can get better with the seriousness. I can Mark, don't get upset with me, please?"
"I'm not upset with you. I'm nervous," he admitted. "I like you Sabrina. I like the way you smile, the way you laugh, your beauty, your dancing. I love so many things about you. You are an amazing friend, but I want more."
He was still for a few minutes as was she. She didn't know what to say. She was attracted to him, but was it something she wanted to take to another level? She liked having this secret crush on her dance partner. It was her secret weapon to do as much as she could to please him, and then watch him respond. She enjoyed this game and she wasn't sure she wanted to change it. She didn't give her heart to anyone easily, but with him it feels right. She can't help it and let's out her answer in a whisper. "Me too."
"I am happy to hear that. May I kiss you again Sabrina?" His voice was shaking.
"Hmmhmm." She couldn't seem to form an actual word. She waited in anticipation with the blindfold still around her eyes. It seemed like forever before she felt his breath on her lips. She waited still and quiet, not her strong suit, for his lips to find the nerve to touch hers. They approached her softly and she was happy to see he was a great kisser. His lips were soft and he knew what to do to turn her on. He took her bottom lip bewteen his and nibbled. She smiled for the first time since she had been blindfolded. He kissed her deeper until their tongues were exploring each others mouths. His hands moved from her back and face down her sides. As his hand grazed the side of her breast, she shivered. This was what dreams were made of. If she was going to be in love, this was how it was going to feel. His kiss was intoxicating and his touch was electrifying. She never wanted it to end. Her hands moved around him swiftly and before he realized it her hands were pulling him closer and moving into his soft curls. She moaned and he smiled. This was more than he hoped for from her. He pulled away and slipped the blindfold off and they were now looking at each other. Her eyes were smiling brightly, even before her mouth did. She never looked away from him, never faultered on a single word.
"Dance for me." They were three little words, but they told her all she needed to know.
"Okay." She slowly moved to her starting position and he dragged her across the floor. The music started and it was all fierceness that poured out of her. Her smile was no longer there. She looked like she needed to be in control and he let her. He was just as fierce and it came much easier for him, but to see her with that look in her eye, made him perform even better. She nailed every move and motion with utter perfection. He had planned to change a few things in the next few days, a move here and turn there, but what he saw before him was pure perfection. When they ended, he pulled her to him.
"That was amazing," he whispered to her while his lips were nearly touching hers. "You are phenominal. I love you Baby. I know you might think it's too soon and you don't have to...."
"I love you too," she cut him off. She smiled sweetly and then leaned in to kiss him, softly and slowly, enjoying their lips touching. He pulled her closer and his kiss deapened.
"This is going to be a fierce Paso. Thank you." He kissed her again and they went to sit on the couch. It was a strange transition for them both. The next step in something that erotic as dancing and whispering of love and kissing should be heading to the bedroom. At least it felt that way for them both.
"Can we talk Mark? Please." She wasn't looking at his eyes.
"Of course. I'm sorry if this wasn't something you wanted."
"No...no, that's not it. I enjoyed everything today. I just thought we should talk some. There are things I still don't know about you that I want to know."
"Well, by all means my beautiful dancer, we shall talk. What would you like to know?"
They talk up into the night and find out much more about each other. They stop to kiss and even dance and then resume their conversation. Mark wakes up and is holding Sabrina on the couch and she is asleep. She's so beautiful laying there, like a doll. He could only imagine many more nights like this one. Their intense connection is something he has never experienced with anyone else and it excited him. The truth was, it excited her too.
