Sweltering...

I find myself using the word "sweltering' quite a lot lately. Indoor/outdoor thermometer is reading 86° in the house right now*, and 100° outside. I don't think it's really quite that high. The outdoor sensor is under the eave in front of the house, which faces west, not the best place for accuracy. Weather.com is telling me it's 86° out there, but ( Read more... )

It's 86 today, full sun, and no AC. But we usually only have four-to-ten days a year at that high, so we either drive around in the AC'd car in the heat of the day, or find a movie. I'll remember these weeks of unremitting sun fondly in November and February.

The A/C in my truck died a couple of years back (two months after I'd had it repaired), so I don't have that option. Usually the drive is fine since the windows still work, but today even doing 75 on the highway was hot.

Still, I never noticed how good the strawberry fields smelled back in the days I drove by when the A/C worked, so I guess that's something.
