Hershey/AC Recap

Aug 18, 2010 09:51

I've been listening to the AC mp3s this AM and decided I should do a recap so I don't forget one of the most epic weekends I've ever had.

First, I'll be using twitter names as the LJ names are harder to remember for me.

So I set off to Maryland to meet up with @Subeesweet (Susie) and pick up @kt_cle (Kathy). Then we are on our way! This was the first time I'd met Kathy in person, and she's awesome. Up we head Rte 15, into rush hour traffic in Harrisburg to rival DC's. We check into our hotel, then make our way into Hershey for dinner and what had to be the largest long island ice tea ever.

Then over to the Star Pavilion. Now we knew we had fourth row seats but this turned out to be really twelth row due to the way they angled our section. That was OK, we still had a great view. Suddenly Kris was on stage; seriously, there was no warning. We were like, "Should we stand?" We didn't want to offend Daughtry stans among us. Then we were like, HALE YES and we stood for everything but the Truth. Just didn't seem like something to stand for.

The Daughtry stans in Section D were good times. I know in other places like the lawn they weren't as nice to Kris stans, but these ones were cool and enjoyed Kris. They sang along to MITM and AWM. And they danced and sang to LLWD. They were so excited when Daughtry came out and dueted on SMAYA.

As for me, I'd gotten a new camera for my birthday and this was the weekend to try it out. Kathy tutored me. Here's my very first video on the camera (Andrew's IIO solo):

Then intermission where two Daughtry fangals in front of us got into a fight with security - over what, we could not tell - and ended up CLOSER to the stage. Maybe I should riot at my next concert.

Daughtry entered to much fanfare and I enjoyed his set a lot. I'm a fan anyway, but I'm a bigger fan now. He did a great job on Rocket Man:

I used his set to practice videomaking (on my you tube channel if you are curious); however, I had two HUGE guys in front of me who were Daughtry swaybots and turned those videos into Where's Waldo exercises as Daughtry would disappear behind their huge heads. I wasn't too mad as those guys had kept an open mind during Kris and didn't mind our flail at all. All good.

After the show, we met up with some people: @AprilJoys, @Hazel_eyes11, @shoshpd, @tawneej, @xoxemjayxox and many more! It was great to put faces with names. We joined them at Friendly's for a little post show snack and then called it a night.

Saturday it was time to head to Atlantic City! Philly Turnpike is gorgeous and then you hit the Philly traffic, a little hairy but not DC-esque. The beach traffic on the Atlantic City Expressway was hairier but all good once past that exit. Off to the Borgata, where we first got our wristbands for later, then wechecked in. On our way to get lunch, we had an almost immediate spotting of Ryland in the sitting wi-fi room. Then Torres near the wristband point.

We were told to come back and line up at 4:30 - when we did, it got changed to 5:30 so we all headed into the bar, where I met a few more familiar twitter folks - @Mer89 @GloriaGloria @cdbnyc and finally met @BCU79 when we got in line! We were let into the venue and told we would line up according to our number. Finally, Krisberts are numbered and tagged. I'm Krisbert #333. Then we did and sat for another hour or so until doors opened. We got to the front (slightly Caleside) and stood and tweeted. Rumor spread that Electric Feel was on the setlist (which it was, I guess they ditched it) (or not-see first comment).

Then the opening act came out. Chris Nathan. Awesome, crowd loved him, so check him out:

Then Kris time! I was like everyone else, flailing and taking photos and videos. Mine are good but pretty much like everyone else's.

Here's my best pic:

Special moments and thoughts for me during this show:
1) Kris pointed at me in AC! During WAOMF. Oh yes he did. I'm sure if you were behind me, you thought he was pointing at you, but no, it twas at me. Thank goodness the TALC gal there captured this moment on film

2) He has the most beautiful skin. Proactiv should snap him up. I'm sure it's the many bottles of water plus his hoppy bunny stage moves making him sweat out the toxins. But seriously, he glows.

3) Cale was on fire during this show, much more interactive with the audience then I expected.

4) A little sad he didn't do these songs: BWCU, Maybe, Bring It Back and FS. But that's me being an entitled fan. The setlist was fine and every performance was special. TMYFML was intense and just beautiful. I wanted to soak it in so that's the only song I didn't take a pic or film.

5) He was so cute after the show, lingering to shake hands, get gifts, give autographs. He really seemed to lap up the love the AC audience provided him in spades.

Aftershow: First, went off to get a map of the bars, and @subeesweet and I met up with Chris Nathan, who was signing autographs after being cornered in the casino. He's very sweet and very tall. Susie bought his CD and says it's great. Then, dinner with Tawnee, Barry and his very sweet sister. After a few laps around the casino, WAY too much partying. I have not partied like that in YEARS. I paid dearly the next day. It was Kathy's birthday after midnight, an old guy gave us drink coupons, I met @Angabella who is so much fun, and did a tequila shot with @CharcoalEyes. We made our way to a bar where KAB had jammed; I had a completely drunken convo with Lizzie, who was smashed herself. She did thank all the fans for their support (we were talking about krinjalists but she meant all the fan twitters). I thought she was adorable actually.

Finally spun my way to bed, and seriously was sick the next day. But it was worth it. So much fun. I really loved meeting everybody.
