Washington DC Lifehouse & Kris Concert Recap
Time for a recap before I forget to do one! Going to use twitter names. So. DC concert with Lifehouse - and a big gigantic wonderful group of fellow Krisberts. We all gathered in @BCU79's condo in DC to eat a lovely meal prepared for us by @mylifeback. I was especially excited to meet her as I hadn't before, and she had come all the way across the country. She's awesome. Also present: @xoxemjayxox, @smushypotato, @bootsy11, @bglbayley, @kt_cle, @tawneej and my girl @SubeeDC. Also @BCU79's sister and family friends. And SMOKEY THE CAT from his avatar. Who I stan bigtime. I love Smokey's bemused yet unamused facial expression at all the krisberting on twitter. Smokey is even more awesome in person as in picture as she handled a bunch of strangers invading her space just fine. (I hope I didn't forget anyone, I will facepalm hard if I did.)
So off to the show at DAR Constitution Hall we go. It was a beautiful drive and I loved having some out of town folks in my car, because the view of the Washington Monument at night is stunning, even for a longtime DC person like me.

We go in, and @SubeeDC is the only one to buy a Buck shirt. I look at XL and really it's a M. Then we hit up the Mix 107.3 table to ask when they will play Alright With Me. They seem annoyed and hand us a nail file. Weird they even have a table since Fresh FM 94.7 is the one who half-promoted the concert.
Our seats are good - 20th and 21st row for most of us and a few are in a nice close-up box won from 94.7. So show begins and first up is Alyssa Bernal. She looks like Vanessa Hudgens. Sounds like her too if Vanessa Hudgens were to go AC and ditch the autotune. So she's OK but very inexperienced and her banter was like listening to my kids and their friends having a conversation.
Then a fairly long intermission, during which we were very concerned and sent a few tweets saying we didn't see Steve. We just didn't realize he wasn't wearing a hat.
Finally time for Kris! He opened his set with WAOMF and CSA, both of which I videoed:
Then RG, followed by AWM. @SubeeDC, @mylifeback and I are like, screw this sitting for the opening acts stuff, it's time to dance! So sorry Lifehouse fans behind us. A few others rose as well and we had a great time. I could tell the band saw us and appreciated the effort. @kt_cle has a great video of AWM - Check it out -
it's his latest single and hopefully Mix 107.3 and Hot 99.5 will decide to slip it in between Jason DeRulo and Ke$ha and Katy Perry and the other crap that seeps into DC's radios on a constant basis.
Then we sat back down but guess what, we got the return of Everybody Wants to Rule the World. YAY!!! I did video it - my video has good views of Kris, but @xoxemjayxox did catch the intro and the segue into IIO, so watch hers:
Next up, LLWD and CT - so we resumed our dance party and flailed for DC's first chance to do a singalong. From where we were it sounded like a fail, but from the videos, I think DC sounds great. So go with the videos! Not all of the crowd got up, but a nice good portion did, and Kris ended up getting a great response from the audience.

Then another long intermission. It was freaking hot in DAR, so a lot of our group went out into the hallway where they were interviewed by USA Today. Kind of glad I didn't get in on that. Then Lifehouse time! I like Lifehouse, and this concert only increased my appreciation of them. They are a very tight band. I did get some good pics of them - here's a few:
I don't know all their songs and can't give you a set list, and like a noob I took videos of their hits. If you want to see them go to youtube.com/mamaygr. I will give you my video of First Time so you can see Jason Wade point at @tawneej's box
So all in all a great concert, I really enjoyed it. Afterwards we couldn't find people & it turned out some of them had slipped out during Lifehouse to go hang by the KAB bus. I was the last person on earth who has not met Cale and Kris. So definitely wanted to try. Cale came out and chatted with us and I introduced myself.
My gosh, he is so much more gorgeous in person and so darn sweet. I really liked him a lot. I am now a certified Calebert. The other fun part of this encounter was some street guy trying to figure out who Cale was. Then when Cale mentioned driving to Atlanta, he started chatting Cale up.
After that, a while passed and we had seen someone we believed was Kris get on the bus, so the group decided to go back to the condo and eat a dessert @mylifeback had made for us. As we were walking back to my car, @SubeeDC and I were just all "goshdangit he is ON THAT BUS and we have never gotten a pic with him and it will suck if we don't." We decided to go back and just give it five more minutes since the bus didn't seem to be going anywhere.
SO GLAD WE DID.
Because we walked back to where we'd been before, and there was Kris walking back into DAR. We hesitated a second, and then went for it and yelled Kris. Big Daddy (his new tour manager) heard us and had him stop. Which was kind of too bad b/c other people waiting jumped in and started taking pics with him. We finally got our turn and really I was so mamgfaweigfna'wgniwagf'na'wgewa that I did not know what to say, so I just told him I'm a fan and I really enjoyed his show tonight for which he thanked me. And I got my pic, he's in his DSTM shirt which is my favorite. :) If you want to see it, it is awful of me and so I hid it on my FB account. Yup you have to FB me to see it if you didn't see it when I twitpic'ed it. He looks good but tired, and honestly, he seemed super tired to me. Anyway, I am excited that I finally met him and got my pic with him, it's like a foursquare badge for Krisberts has been unlocked. :)
@SubeeDC and I flailed all the way back to @BCU79's place. Then we ate that delicious dessert and flailed some more! Then I drove home, blasting KATA all the way, and it turns out I was just a few minutes behind KAB on I-395.
All in all, a most excellent evening of music and friends - A+. Seriously, the best thing about this fandom is the people in it. <3<3<3
