DyAl Highschool

Oops.  I was working on Pirates, but somehow this happened.  *cough* Hope you don't mind... Anyway, a small section of this was going to go into our Highschool rpg, but you were taking too long to respond to it so now it's turned into a short story.  Take THAT. XD Haha.

**
They made for a strange friendship.

Dymitry was known for his assertiveness, and for his kindness.  He was loud, playful and had a handsome grin that never left his face.  Dymitry was probably the tallest person in the entire building; standing at a full 6'4".  Dymitry never asked for it, but he always had flocks of people around him -- primarily girls -- but he didn't seem to mind and talked to everyone with that same smile on his face.

Alfons on the other hand ... not much was known about him.  He had a bit of an odd appearance; his hair was dyed three different colors, he wore eyeliner, and he always kept to himself.  He was short; anytime anyone wanted to talk to him they had to look down at his 5'2".  He kept away from other people when he could and was obviously displeased whenever someone approached.

A year ago, as fate would have it, Dymitry and Alfons shared a class together.  Dymitry immediately noticed Alfons in the corner, and dragged him out of it.  Alfons couldn't shake the guy from then on.

Since then, Dymitry spent most of his time with Alfons.  Even his own girlfriend was put on a backburner for more 'Alfonsie time' as Dymitry put it.

Slowly, Alfons started to not mind Dymitry's company.  He had smiles just for him and was beginning to be more talkative and becoming used to Dymitry's antics.

"-- and then she said ... Whoa!" Dymitry glanced at the clock.  "Look at the time! I'll tell you the rest later, okay? I'm supposed to meet Maria before class..."

Alfons glanced at the clock.  Class was due to start in about thirty seconds.

Dymitry slid off Alfons' desk.  "I'll meet you after class, okay?" He grinned at him and ruffles his hair like he always did before dashing out of the room.

Alfons straightened his hair as an afterthought, and watched Dymitry take off with a look of longing.  He rested his head against the desk with a tortured sigh.  When had hanging around with Dymitry become so painful?

***
Alfons found Dymitry waiting for him outside the door almost the instant the class had finished.  Dymitry had that grin like he always did, and was panting slightly from running over.

"So Maria was pretty pissed..." Dymitry comments with a slight laugh and starts getting into the details.

Alfons feigned interest.  He didn't want to hear about that girl.  Instead he focused on Dymitry's low voice and on that warm smile that he had fallen in love with.  Alfons put in the required "Uh-huh"'s whenever they were needed and walked alongside Dymitry.
Even though Alfons did his best to hide it, Dymitry always noticed that his mood turned sour when Maria was brought up.  Dymitry hastily changed the subject.

Soon they were exiting the school building.  Alfons breathed in the fresh air and cheered up slightly.  He always had Dymitry to himself at this time; Dymitry walked him home daily and sometimes they'd stop by in the café and Dymitry would treat him to whatever he wanted.  He'd pretend that they were on a date rather than just being two friends hanging out after school let out.

Alfons had a nasty surprise when he saw Maria watching Dymitry expectantly a few feet away.

Dymitry almost seemed surpirsed at first too for a moment.  He looked at Alfons apologetically.  "I can't walk you home today, Alfonsie... Maria said we needed to talk."  Dymitry didn't seem happy about this.  He didn't do 'serious,' he was all about being carefree and laidback.

"Oh... Right," Alfons said, and cleared his throat when he realized how much his disappointment showed in his tone.  Suddenly he was pulled into Dymitry's chest in a tight hug.

"Hey cheer up," Dymitry's voice said.  "You'll get some of Dymitry tomorrow, alright?"  Dymitry pulled back with a grin.  "Seeya tomorrow, Alfonsie."  He turned away from him, joined his girlfriend at the side, and walked off.

Alfons clutched the textbook he was holding tightly, blinking hard a few times.  He started walking home alone, trying not to feel the pain in his chest.  He hated Maria.  That is, he always hated her, but now that she robbed him of his time with Dymitry... he hated her.

When nightfell, Alfons flopped into his bed hoping that he wouldn't wake up again so his misery could end.

The next morning, Alfons checked his cell for the text message Dymitry always sent him.  No new message.  He dropped the phone, his chest tightning into a pained squeeze.

Somehow, he eventually made it out of bed and got ready for school, and was walking out the door plenty in time.  At this point, Alfons was expecting the  disappointment of Dymitry not being there to walk with him to the school.  It hurt less this way.

Once at the school, his time with Dymitry was constantly being stolen by Maria.  Maria expected Dymitry to be tied to her hip between each class, expected him to spend time with her at lunch, and expected him to sit in with her class during his spare block.

At one point, things looked like they might not be so bad when when Alfons saw Dymitry dashing over.  Apparently he managed to get away.  Alfons returned Dymitry's smile, but it was forced.  He wasn't surprised in the slightest when Dymitry's cell rang.

He watched Dymitry sigh and reach for his phone.  Don't answer it... Don't answer it... Alfons silently prayed.  Stay with me.

"Hi Maria," Dymitry greeted with a sigh.  "Yeah, I know.  ... Alright, I'm coming."

Alfons watched Dymitry put his cell away, and for a moment he saw a look of misery on Dymitry's face.  It was quickly replaced with a false smile.  Alfons never seen him this way before; the smiles were always genuine.  He felt anger burn in the pit of his stomach immediately.  This was Maria's fault.

"I gotta go Alfonsie.  Sorry, I'll make it up to you later.  I'll try to walk you home today, okay?" Dymitry gave him a wave before leaving.

Alfons headed for his last class, feeling lonelier than he did before he met Dymitry.

He knew he shouldn't have.  He knew it was stupid.  But sure enough, Alfons had gotten his hopes up to spend time with Dymitry after class let out.  Once he was standing outside his hopes were crushed.  Dymitry was already walking away with Maria, apparently his time so restricted he didn't even have the chance to say goodbye to Alfons.

As if sensing Alfons' eyes watching him, Dymitry looked back at him with an expression Alfons could've sworn was wistful.  He waved to Dymitry and once again, headed home alone.

That night, Alfons seriously considered it.  It was bad enough knowing he couldn't have Dymitry but now ... He couldn't even spend time with him anymore.  He didn't know how much longer he could stand it.  But when he thought of how Dymitry would react to the news, he couldn't go through with it.  Once again when he went to bed, he hoped to pass on his sleep.

The next morning, Alfons was out the door to head to school and was expecting to be alone so much, that he walked right past Dymitry and didn't even notice him until Dymitry laughed and caught up to him.

Alfons looked up at him in surprise.  "You're ... You don't look good," he observes.  Dymitry had dark circles under his eyes like he hadn't slept.

"Gee, thanks, Alfonsie."  Dymitry said, but his playful grin told Alfons he wasn't actually offended.

"How did you get away?" Alfons asked it like Dymitry had escaped a prison cell rather than from a girl.

"We broke up," Dymitry answered simply.  "Was up most of the night telling her why it wasn't working anymore ... Or rather, that it never did."

Alfons looked at him quizzically.

"Well I never felt anything when I was her.  I mean down in the --"

"Yeah I got it," Alfons interrupted immediately.  He knew Dymitry wouldn't censor anything.

Dymitry smiled at him.  "Or rather, no girl made me feel anything.  A few weeks ago when we were having sex--"

Alfons made a face at that.  The thought of Dymitry like that with a girl made his stomach turn.

"Anyway, I had to really fiddle with myself to be able to f--"

"Too much information!" Alfons cut him off, a blush on his face.

Dymitry grinned at him.  Apparently this was fun for him.  "Anyway, not long after that, I saw one of those Playboy magazines.  Except of men, not women.  Whoa did I get hard after that! No fiddling required; I mean it was so much it almost hurt, and --" He stopped when he saw the look on Alfons' face.  "The point is, I'm gay."

Alfons blinked at him.  Was he dreaming this? "Then ... why didn't you break it off sooner?"

Dymitry shrugged.  "Well I can't just dump her right after bedding her.  That wouldn't be right.  But then ... she was keeping me away from the person I really cared about."

This caught Alfons' attention.

"A certain someone's who's always been on my mind lately... So much I even dream about him."  He stepped closer to Alfons, and pulled him in real close, his hand on his chin.

"Dymi?" Alfons whispered, not sure if he should let himself believe this was really happening.  His heart was beating so fast he was positive Dymitry could hear it.

Alfons' books slipped from his hands and fell to the ground in a heap once their lips met, and in that moment all of his dreams came true.

The end.  Mwa! Hope you enjoyed it. x3
