Nicky+Lilly highschool

Mar 27, 2011 13:54

This short not really story more like a few scenes, is based off the current "highschool" rpg, but when Nicky, Lilly and Karlver are in highschool themselves.
This is all there is, so no asking for more. xD Haha.

Her eyes widened slightly when she accepted the flowers. “Oh thanks, Nicky. You’re such a good friend! These will look great in my room,” she said happily, hugging him tightly.

“Y-you’re welcome… That’s why I got them for you.” He sighed, hugging her back. She was so close and yet so far.

Nickolai groaned in misery, resting his arm over his eyes after he finished recounting what had happened at school today to Karlver.

Technically he and Karlver were cousins, but as far as they were concerned, they were brothers. They were also best friends.

“It’s not that bad,” Karlver said reassuringly, trying to cheer him up.

“Yes it is,” Nickolai responded, almost in a snap. “I’m going to be trapped in the ‘friend-zone’ forever.”

Karlver was silent for a moment, working on his sketch. “Well why don’t you just tell her how you feel?”

Nickolai shook his head immediately. “No, I can’t. She doesn’t look at me in that way, I’m just her childhood friend. We’ve been friends since daycare; if I tell her and she rejects me, I don’t think we could ever go back to the way we used to be.”

Karlver picked up some graphite and began shading. “Well if you’re never going to tell her, then maybe you should try to get over--”

“No.” Nickolai cuts him off. “Once high school’s done, I’m going to marry her,” he said stubbornly.

Karlver grinned. He knew that’d get Nickolai’s determination up. “So you going to make her fall for you?”

Nickolai sat up and flipped through Karlver’s Opus magazine for something to do, as he wasn’t actually interested in art or art supplies. “Yeah, but whenever I do something nice she says I’m ‘such a good friend.’” He heaved a sigh.

“I can ask her what she thinks about you,” Karlver offered. He had always wanted to see the two get together.

“Thanks Karl,” Nickolai said with a smile, cheering up a bit. He could always count on him. “So is … that Icarus guy still asking you out?” he asked, holding back a laugh.

Karlver blushed and nodded. “Yeah…” he said finally.

“I can beat him up for you,” Nickolai offered.

“N-no. Don’t do that,” Karlver said quickly. “I’ll handle it.”

“Alright.” Nickolai stood. “I’m going to head home; dinner will be ready soon. Seeya Karl.”

Karlver smiled at him brightly. “Seeya tomorrow, Nicky.”

Nickolai said goodbye to his aunt and uncle as he headed downstairs and left, heading for home. Sure enough, once he was inside his own house, he could smell the dinner cooking on the stove.

“Hi Mom,” he greeted first, grabbing a can of soda from the fridge.

“Hi Nick,” Elisabeth said sweetly. “How was school?”

He shrugged. “Same as always.”

Elisabeth pat his shoulder. “She’ll realize you’re a great guy soon,” she said to him reassuringly, even though he had said nothing about Lilly.

He shrugged one shoulder. “Yeah, well…” he muttered, feeling a bit embarrassed. “I hope so,” he added, before heading for the living room to hang out with his father until food was set on the table.

Later that night, he was laying on his bed in his room. He picked up his cell. What are you doing? he typed in, and hit send. He waited. He smiled when his phone chirped with a response.Homework like always. I put the lilies in a vase, btw. Thanks again J

He held his cell tightly, and seriously considered just going for it and telling her right then and there, but… It didn’t feel right saying something so important, something he had felt since he was twelve in something stupid like a text message.Glad you like them. he typed finally, and pushed send. He glanced at the photo of the two of them from when they were fourteen that was kept in a frame by his bedside table. He sighed for the umpteenth time that day before finally going to bed.

The next day at school, Nickolai was very impatient to hear back from Karlver, as he had promised to talk to Lilly that day. Finally in the last five minutes of lunch hour, Karlver approached Nickolai.

“Well!?” he pressed immediately. “What did she say?”

“Whoa, calm down Nicky,” Karlver said with a smile. “She said … Well she said that she never thought of you that way before.”

Nickolai sighed sadly. “I knew it…” he muttered.

“But,” Karlver continued, “she said she wouldn’t say no if you asked her out.” He smiled at the stunned Nickolai and hugged him tightly. “Congrats, Nicky~” he said happily.

Nickolai smiled and returned the hug once he got over the shock. Finally he pulled away and started walking toward the school entrance.

“Nicky? Where are you going!?” Karlver called after him.

“To tell her how I feel!” he called back.

Karlver gave him a wave, smiling happily. He turned and saw Icarus trying to catch his attention. Karlver smiled slightly. He had a confession of his own to make.

The end~~<3
