I had no idea about Christianity in the Narnia books until much, much later. I even read the sodding Screwtape Letters without much of an idea about the allegory! I also completely missed the point of Animal Farm until it was pointed out to me.

In my defence about Animal Farm, I was only 8 when I read it, and had never heard of Trotsky. I was 18 when I found out about Narnia, though...
