I went to a great conference yesterday on intellectual property and fashion. I met the style editor of NY Times and LA Times yesterday and sat behind Tom Ford. hehe...well i'm reading a big article and writing a paper on her right now, so i thought it was fitting.

that's cool. i read an article about that painting once, and the critic said it was one of the first true pieces of feminist-oriented art since the violent, justified one is the woman...i forgot the myth/story of the painting and who the characters are. it's biblical, isn't it?

yup, it's about judith the jewess beheading the syrian king who is trying to enslave the jews. she seduced him and got him drunk and sawed his head off. it's a pretty gruesome painting, i think the one i posted was her second version, which is a little improved on the original. it's the first time anyone portrayed that scene in the midst of the action, so it was pretty groundbreaking.
