Legend of Zelda...Movies

In case you missed it, yesterday IGN put out a fake trailer for a fictitious Legend of Zelda movie. Here's a link to a YouTube of it.

However, I'm not sure if anywhere here is familiar with the other Legend of Zelda movie being made and the trailer associated with it. While this one is not an April Fool's joke, it is (thank goodness) a fan-made ( Read more... )

If two different groups just made movie trailers for this idea. Why is Hollywood taking so long to catch up? They probably would be able to make a good version (unlike that last trailer LOL) of the Legend of Zelda as a movie. I think it'd be a lot like Willow, don't you?

Sadly, I find it highly unlikely that a movie studio or animation studio could do a Legend of Zelda movie justice...or even just make it not suck. The evidence shows that Hollywood is extremely hard on video games, as well as general geek culture. In fact, I think that you'll be hard pressed to think of a movie or TV series based on a video game that didn't outright suck. Even Japan is hard on this kind of thing, despite the rabid fanboyishness that claims the contrary.

No, I think that LOZ (as well as a number of other iconic video game franchises) just don't translate well into other mediums. And we should accept that, and not attempt to screw everything up by trying.

Why would you make me watch that? Have I hurt you in some way? *sob*

...admittedly, their Ganon was better than the IGN one. It wouldn't be that bad if they could just get rid of that "I'm at RenFaire and I've got a video camera!" feel.

It's just bad. The guy playing Link could be standing still in an empty field and it would be awful. I don't understand how people can make stuff like this (especially on a Hollywood-level of manufacture) and not realize halfway through that it sucks and should be terminated ASAP.

That's the thing, it seems like they typically don't care whether it sucks or not, they just care whether it makes money. Sad thing is, it seems that gamers really WANT to see a good video game-to-movie translation, so they'll still go and see it.

Speaking of which, make sure to go see the new Indiana Jones movie opening day, if it's only to make Uwe Boll eat his own words. He claims that "Postal will kick Indy's ass on opening day," and by god we just can't let that happen...

Whots this?!? Has the Vile Tyrant issued forth a challenge?!? You are most correct, Sir, we must ensure that such a thing cannot come to pass! (Even if I dislike Lucas as much as I dislike Boll...at least it's being directed by Spielburg)
