Oh I was actually hoping they would have offered a job to Eric as incentive to get off the streets instead of just giving him the cash. I hope that Eric finds away as well.

It's a nice idea, but right now, Eric wouldn't even commit to getting together with Dom for a cup of coffee. Accepting a job offer? I really don't know.

In response to what Crsty said, that's still a possibility, I think. Especially with Mark preparing to finish uni and a spot opening up in the book shop - it would make a great opportunity for Eric.

I can just see Dom trying to 'withhold privileges' - it would be a contest to see who had more willpower...Dom or Billy. They have so much trouble keeping their hands off of one another, I suspect Dom might have problems holding back.

Eric working at the book shop is a nice idea, especially since it would get him off the street, but considering how volatile his friendship has been with Dom in recent months, I don't see him jumping at the offer. He broke down and came to Dom for help, when it was clearly very difficult for him. Dom gave him what he needed, and then recoiled when Dom pushed him a little. Time will tell.

Hee. Yeah, I think a contest would be funny. Not sure who I'd put money on. I'll have to think about that.

see no will power at all... third chapter already. le sigh.

i love the progress that has been made. once upon a time in this story the encounter with eric would not have gone nearly as well; although, i am a bit concerned with how that will play out.

i am reading this entire story with an air of impending doom.

*snickers* Sorry. If it helps, I really do enjoy your comments.

When it comes to making progress with Eric, Dom is learning that it's about small steps. He can't force it. Remember how bad Dom was after he was attacked? Barely able to walk, he still tried to leave when Billy offered his help.

Impending doom? :::whistles innocently and then hides:::

I’ve been volunteering at a drop-in center not far from my old flat,” Dom reveals.

oh good. that part got mentioned. I'd wondered what had happened, after you ended that one chapter about Dom offering his help at the shelter. I'd been wondering about that. I hope we see more there.

As for Eric, I can see him asking for money but not taking a job. Not now. Maybe not ever. He sees himself as different from Dom as night to day. Eric asking for help had to be agonizing for him. I don't see Dom trying to make Eric a pet project or anything, I'm sure he'd want to really help. I'm just not sure how willing Eric is to it all. And really, it has to start with him wanting help.

You are so right about Eric. He's just not at the point where he's willing to accept help, let alone a job. The small amount of money he needed - it took everything in him to ask Dom for it. Until he's ready and willing, there's nothing Dom can do but wait.

Thank you.
