Come in!

If you are a dreamer, come in.
If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, a magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire,
For we have some flax golden tales to spin.
Come in!
Come in!

Hi, this is my Livejournal, and in the following post is a list of all the books I own, and ones I'm planning to buy. If ( Read more... )

ooo, the whatevering with dragons books, those were fun. And I want to read the looking glass wars, but my library only has it as a book on tape. *grumble*. Also wicked... *checks*... hey, they do have that one! I'll have to get it sometime.

Now suggestions. Have you read anything by Tamora Pierce? <3. I'd say read the series in order, but if you don't care about that as much as I do and don't want to get all of them, the Immortals quartet and the Trickster books are the best in my opinion.
I've only read a little bit of Mercedes Lackey so far, but from what I have read, also <3. The Last Herald-Mage books were amazing. Enough that I was up all night reading them :P

The Claidi Journals, by Tanith Lee
A matter of profit, by Hilari Bell(and some of her other books, although this one I think is the best, and then songs of power)
The Acorna series, by Anne McCaffrey(w/ others)
These ones I read a while ago, so I'm not sure how kiddish they may or may not be, but I definitely liked them when I read them, enough to reread them later.

Ahem... you're forgetting the Circle of Magic quartet, the Circle Opens quartet, and Will of the Empress. ;)

Also, Mercedes Lackey, basically anything by her. <3. Especially the Jousters series.

Have you ever read anything by Ursula K. Le Guin?

She mainly writes soft science fiction... A couple of my favorites by her are The Left Hand of Darkness, The Dispossessed, The Telling, Rocannon's World and numerous others... She also wrote Earthsea; but I haven't read an of those yet..

I heard that in regards to Harry Potter; book #7 won't be the last; that there will be a book number eight!!

I liked the first book of Earthsea well enough, the oher two were nothing special. I'd suggest you read the first book only, the story wraps up anyway.
Have you read anything by Terry Pratchett? He's like Douglas Adams turned to fantasy, only with more plot. I love all of his books, maybe a good start would be "Wyrd Sisters" or "Guards! Guards!".
George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" is great fantasy, if you can get past the strong language and explicit scenes (which is why I almost never recommend it).
Artemis Fowl books are good, but they're getting worse as the series goes on.
And last I heard, JKR herself said that it's a hoax, book 7 will be the last. I hope she did a good job of it!

Tamora Pierce, Mercedes Lackey, and Terry Pratchett should all be at the top of the consideration list. I just forgot ó_ò .
Actually, some of them should be on the to buy list.

Tamora Pierce - I do care about reading series in order, which is part of the reason I haven't looked into the author. I've been too lazy 'till now to sort out the multiple series all being in the same place, I've not been sure where to start.
Maybe I'll be able to find box sets or something. I like box sets.

Mercedes Lackey - Same as Tamora Pierce, only I've now made sense of Tamora Pierce. I suppose I'll just try to start at the beginning and go through.
I really like box sets.

Terry Pratchett - I've always been meaning to get, again, I just need to start somewhere. I'll have to make a list of all these series when I get to go book shopping again (< 2 weeks, big store in Regina :D ).

Tamora Pierce, Mercedes Lackey, and Terry Pratchett moved onto the contemplation list, though I'll likely get something (box set) from one of them whenever that wedding ( ... )

Let the record state that Oathbound and Oathbreakers is technically a duology, while Oathblood is an anthology. ;)

Also, Exile's Honor and Exile's Valor is another duology.

Brightly Burning is by itself... so is Take a Thief.
There's also the Mage Winds trilogy (?, Winds of Change, Winds of Fury) and the Black Gryphon trilogy (Black Gryphon, White Gryphon, Silver Gryphon).

Artemis Fowl sucks. Dx.

Haven't read any good books lately (lately as in, since Grade 9 or something), so can't really say.
