On Topic: my own father did attempt a novel. I was about 6 years old at the time. I wonder what became of his manuscript?

The Real World is overrated if you ask me. I don't hang out there much myself.

My dad is a wordsmith so I've never had to wonder where I got the bug. Haven't seen him attempt fiction, though, so he might surprise me yet.

When I think of all the cages people try to put other people in, especially black women writing in non-traditional genres, I just have one answer: Octavia Butler.

When you first shared that with me that he was doing that, I was horrified, but I absolutely understood why he thought it was necessary.
