Passing of a technical genius

Today, James Doohan (best known for his role as Mr. Scott in Star Trek) passed away at 85. As I actually got to meet him some years back, his passing really saddens me. He was good natured, very friendly, and always a smile whether speaking like a Scot or the Texan that he was. He will be missed, but his legend will live on ( Read more... )

Not to be nitpicky, but he was a Canuck, not a Texan. Though he did do a dead-on Texas accent. One of his favorite speaking bits was to retell his audition for Scotty, demonstrating all the various accents they wanted him to try. He was a helluva voice actor, with 4000+ radio and voice roles.

Hmm.. he kept the Texan accent through the whole con and I could swear he was living there at the time. This was about 10 years ago, so my memory is a little fuzzy from it.

That's an awful lot of voice acting. Damned impressive!
