A word on discrimination

Recently, I've seen more and more people use the term "reverse discrimination" in situations where they feel that a member of society's majority is being somehow marginalized by one minority or another. Maybe I miss the point of society being a "work in progress" as you call it, but I think you miss mine in regards to the power structure of our culture. It's obviously ridiculous to think that a majority of our nation's leadership and prestige positions wouldn't be filled by whites, as simple mathematical probability would tell us this should be the case. My specific focus doesn't necessarily revolve around minority inclusion, but rather around a distinction of vocabulary. I believe my last line even explicitly states, "The point? Racism is one thing, discrimination is quite another." I was taking issue with the term "reverse discrimination" as I believe its use to be indicative of ignorance and overall naivete to the basic way in which society is structured. Because of the disparity between its meaning and application, I thus found it appropriate to draw corollaries to various societal inequities ( ... )
