More books. More Russian. Leon was getting rather sick of it, but he was still intent on learning the language. As much of a headache as it was, it was still something to do.

The boy was heading back towards the apartments from the library, his book load considerably less than his last few trips, and thus easier to manage without having to worry about accidentally dropping anything. His ears flicked as he thought he heard something- or someone, rather, speaking. Slowing his steps, he looked around. He always hated walking around this part of the city since there were more soldiers, but that voice surely didn't belong to one of the locals. Ah, a newcomer then? If he recalled correctly, then this was nearby the processing office.

Leon hurried over towards the corner of the street, peering around. Wait, what was that?

Of course Silver wouldn't realize anything would be amiss to anyone else. Sure, he hadn't really dealt with humans or overlanders in his traveling between zones, but Silver tended to brush off the completely unusual.

The hedgehog walked straight up to the nearest person to see if he could get any additional information from them. In this case it was a fellow who seemed to have a considerable amount of books in two. Maybe it was one of the locals? Oh well, best way was to ask and find out.

"Excuse me?" Silver began with a raised palm in order to grab their attention further, "Hi. I'm new around here. Can you tell me the name of this place?" They could start with the simple information and then he could go from there. First thing was to figure out what zone he was in, though.

This was by far one of the strangest newcomers he'd ever seen. The boy looked up at the hedgehog and couldn't help but stare a bit.

"Oh! Wow, they didn't tell you anything at all?" he asked, frowning slightly. He sighed. "Guess those soldiers get lazier and lazier with each new person that comes through the Gate. Well, mister....this city is called Veles."

The welcome that he'd gotten wasn't so informative on the end of the other party, it was mostly just him getting poked at and asked a lot of questions. It seemed like reactions he got from other zones were always like that though.

Silver didn't seem to notice the odd stare that he'd gotten, but went straight into thinking out loud to himself. "Veles, huh. I've never even heard about that zone." Oh well, it wasn't the first time he'd never heard about something. He continued, "So.. you said that they get lazier each time they come through the gate. Does that mean that new people coming here happens a lot?"

After meeting another one of herself, Toph figured there couldn't possibly be anything weirder. She'd encountered a few non-humans in Veles as well, like the alien lady with no heartbeat or the metal girl, but they'd all been very human-shaped. A short, furry thing walking around with boots and no pants-- that was a little different.

"Okay, I'll bite," she announced in the thing's direction. "Do you speak English?"

It seemed like the people out in the city were a lot more open to conversation than the strange figures who had been questioning him before when he'd arrived in this zone--that was good. At least he could make a little more progress outside.

Silver gave the girl a perplexed expression, mostly because he was never really asked that sort of thing. Everyone on Mobius always spoke the same language and could understand one another. Granted, there were several dialects and everything within that one language. "Huh? Sure. I speak that." Silver paused but made sure to add, "But umm, I'd rather not be bitten."

Naturally his expression was invisible to Toph, but his confusion was obvious enough in his reply. "Good, because I really didn't want to have to do that." Explain that it was just a turn of phrase? Why would she do that?

"So, I guess you just came through the Gate, huh?"

"Yeah...I think so." Was that a gate? He thought gates were more like entranceways or like star posts that he passed through. He just got out of a room with a bunch of strange people who wanted to ask him a bunch of questions, he didn't remember anything like that.

Silver gave a brief shrug, "I've never been to a place like this before. It's nice and all, but I really should be getting home."
