"Sh*t out of 'lock' ", the saga continues

...And the plot thickens, everyone. After getting home late last night, i discovered that my newly installed lock was, in fact, not so well installed. I by no means am a plumber or locksmith, but I don't quite understand what does the lockset (what is it anyway? a hole where you put a lock in?!) have to do with the key being stuck inside the lock. Sounds to me that it clearly is a lock problem. And btw, i forgot how much you said you spent for the lock, but I believe when we were moving in my father bought a normal Medeco lock at Home Depot for no more than $20...

"Lockset" refers to the entire lock system that's inside of your door. The round lock with the hole that you put the key in is called a CYLINDER (i'm getting very savvy at this now, what can i say)

Yes, i realize i was way overcharged, no need to point this little fact out any further :)

I do have to say though that the price of the lock was probably the only more or less reasonable aspect of it because it also includes the labor of putting the lock in. All the other locksmiths i looked into quoted me $120-$150 for the new lock, obviously not meaning just the lock alone. It is still a bit extreme, but that's what the majority of them charge. Where i got completely ripped off, however, was the emergency call cost and the cost of drilling the old lock out.

I am sure if i bought a lock at Home Depot (and then installed it myself?), i could've cut down on the cost drastically :)))

yeah, you definitely overpaid for this :-)
I could've done the whole thing for you for $30 bucks including the cost of the lock :)

Really? Since when are you a licensed locksmith? LOL

Sorry, i guess in the spur of the moment of locking myself out, i didnt really think of you for the job :) But now that i know you are capable of reinstalling locks, you better believe i wont be calling a locksmith from the yellow pages again
