regarding Korra

Ok, so I'm having major fun with The Legend of Korra so far, the show's great, I'm happy how much work is put into it. I love the characters, love the setting, LOVE the music. Fights are beautifully choreographed, bending is exciting and all. But there's one thing that angered me enormously in last, 5th episode. And that thing was the main point of ( Read more... )

I had heard some rumblings about this episode (I've yet to see even the first episode yet), but now, I'm disappointed.

it's not like I want to make bad advertising for the series. it's really entertaining and well constructed so far, but I noticed that Avatar, as a whole universum, has a problem handling romance:/ but it's only one issue and it's my personal opinion

Personally my love for Bolin increased more than Mako after the 5th episode.

I did hear there will be a serious side to Bolin, so he isn't just going to be the comic relief.

he at least managed to get SOME screentime, in comparison to previous episodes. and he did show that he can be much more than a comic relief. he's unseful in fighting, caring and sensible towards people he loves. that's why I'm angry that they ridiculed his feelings towards Korra and didn't even give her a chance to treat him seriously.

I'm just more annoyed that they are focusing more on romance then like, tracking down the bad guy :/

Personally, I haven't liked Mako from the beginning. From the previous episode I started to like him because I'm like "Um, he has more emotions then stone face"! and then... now he's a jerk.

I can understand why they did it. previous episodes were pretty intense, so I bet they wanted to make a lighter one to calm down younger viewers.

it's not only Mako's fault really. the fact that he's indecisive is of course annoying, but Korra is equally at fault, being all blindly in love with him, without even considering other possibilities. you don't handle romance this way in such popular series, that's just poor writing><

I don't know. I'm not really seeing - or maybe I just don't want to see - them ending up this episode with one definitive pairing. It felt more like back to status quo at the end, with the exception that everyone now knows Korra has a very outspoken crush on Mako, and Bolin has one on Korra. But I still hope for possibilities of change. Not that I any longer know what pairing I prefer, since Mako's personality took a dive in my opinion by being lured in so easily by a girl like that.

But on the whole I know what you mean with that it shows it's an American production. Less subtility and more labeled character types. All in all I think it was an overdone and too bluntly done episode in many ways and was pretty unnecessary since it didn't really fit in.

I still like Korra's personality though. She's a direct and outspoken girl of action for sure XD
