My favourite merthur fanfiction... or at least an MV of it
Accidental Memory in the Case of Death is one of my absolutely favourite merthur fanfictions. It's pretty long, it's 75k words approx as I remember but it's worth it.
I can remember how fool I was at first. I have this odd habit that before I read a fic I always dip into them and if there's nothing what really catches my eyes I just won't read it. So it was the same with this one too. I can't tell why on Earth I didn't like it at first and put it away. But a few weeks later I just saw this fantastic music video. Actually, the video follows the fic unbelievably well so somehow I found out that I read about this fic somewhere. I just watched the video and I was shaking, I'm not joking. It's so fantastic. I'm in love with the music, the effects, every kisses seem so real, and all of these things together give some mystical feeling. So I decided to read the fic.
I know after the final episode of Merlin I didn't want to read any slash, actually I only read some reincarnation fic. But this one was special. Well, it's also a reincarnation one, and to be honest, one of the bests I think. After the first sentences I had this strange feeling in my heart what I still can feel whenever I think back to this story or I’m watching the video or listening to this song. Even if it was months ago. There is something in it what I can’t explain. You read it and suddenly you feel like you're in another dimension.
One of my favourite parts is in the beginning when Tony (Arthur) and Emory (Merlin) are on the train and finally everything becomes weird and grotesque, and you just sit there and read and don't know what the hell is happening. And then finally Tony wakes up on the train and you understand it was a dream. A dream of the two. It's a bit frightening how the story drowns you in itself that you feel yourself like you're the characters. I just can't find the right words for this work, it's so perfect. I think everyone should read it who loves merthur.
Bonus the names and characters... I think if you reborn you won't have the same name as before, and there's a pretty slight chance that you will meat your friends or family of your previous life. So to create a completely new world in the 21st century and give the main characters new names were one of the best decisions of the creator I think.
Oh, and before I forget about it I have to mention that both Tony and Emory have completely different personalities from Arthur and Merlin. You can’t find any similarity in them and I think it’s the best, really. It’s so real. Emory is always alone, everyone misjudge him and avoid him, while Tony is the popular guy, but even in these cases both of them are lonely and have their own, sad secrets. They are like the water and the fire, like the sky and the Earth, and still they’re so alike. They can be the only one for each other who can really understand them. And in this case they fall in love with the other, and what is the most important thing for me is they don’t love each other for their previous, but their present lives.
This fic is mysterious, abstract, thought-provoking and full of feels. I told the whole world to read it if I could but since I can't this is the only way to recommend it. It's really worth reading.^^
