A few words on Doctor Who after I caught up with the entire revamped series

This summer, I had a mission: catching up with the entire revamped series of Doctor Who (meaning, from doctor n° 9 onward).

As of today, I can say that my mission has been fully accomplished and that I loved the series so much that I decided to buy a couple of Doctor who themed shirts from RedBubble.com. I'll even buy the DVD sets because this is

Ten is my Doctor too, I am also having problems geeting into him but unlike you I adore Amy, Rory and River and they are what has kept me watching. I think we have completely opposite taste in companions! LOL! Martha is my all-time favorite, and I have to say I'm suprised because your reason for not liking Martha is exactly why I don't like Rose... Yes, Martha had a crush on him but she got over it, unlike Rose who even though she was stuck in an alternate dimension she was still obsessed... I also felt really bad for Mickey and thought that she treated him horribly. I think that may be why I like Amy/Rory so much... It was what I wanted Mickey/Rose to be. I did like Jackie too but Donna buged me... I think that was mostly because I thought she was trying to be funny but I didn't really think she was. I also loved Jack (but then again I have yet to find anyone who didn't!). Whew! That got really long... anyway, I like Martha mostly because she is smart (She's a doctor!) and can hold her own. My brother loves S1-4 for exactly the same reasons you do. I realise I am odd in his eyes for liking Eleven so damn much but I think I do agree with you that River and Amy steal the show a lot in S5 & 6 (I love River, I've been intrigued about her ever since she met Ten).

I've still to catch up on S6, by the time I get home there will be two new episodes waiting for me on the sky recording thingie xD

River... my relationship with her is complicated. I really liked her first appearance in S4, that double episode was brilliant! I don't like her too much now, I don't know why... I think it's a combination of the writing (sometimes she is too smug/BAMF... and I love this in a character, it's just that I feel it's too overemphasized most of the times) and the fact that I don't like how she plays opposite to Smith. I really liked her with Tennant though.
And I forgot to mention that I like Rory, he's my favorite character in the 11 era.

I really felt the leap between S4 and 5... it almost felt like a complete different show to me... and this hadn't happened between S1 and 2.

I think you'll like episode #8 'Let's kill Hitler' ;) I liked it too (even though Matt Smith's performance really hasn't grown on me yet).

I think part of it is that I prefer Moffat to Davies as show runner (and I think this explains the shift in the writing for S1-4 and then 5&6). I do, however, think that Moffat likes writing his women as these kick ass BAMF/kind-of-smug characters, or it comes over that way sometimes? There's definitely a switch in her character (and my brother doesn't particularly like how much more suggestive and blatant things have become between River and the Doctor).
I love Rory! He is easily my favourite xD

I've seen 'Lets Kill Hitler', it aired just before I came to Lousiana, and I really liked it :)

I really liked what Moffat did when he was just a writer in S1-4, many of my favorite episodes are written by him (The Empty Child & The Doctor Dances, The Girl in the Fireplace, Blink, Silence in the Library & Forest of the Dead) so I expected to like the show even more when he became show runner... perhaps I was hoping too hard XD (This, and the fact that Tennant stole my heart).

I have to agree with what your brother says. I often find her a little too over the top... I enjoyed her character when she played opposite Ten but with Eleven... it's a big no for me.

I have a feeling you would like this show! It's definitely something I recommend you to catch up with (at least S1-4) if you have the chance. Torchwood is its spin-off but its target is more for adults whereas Doctor Who is more funny :)

Yes, every time the Doctor is close to dying he can regenerate to avoid death. The new incarnation has the same memories but his aspect is different and his personality can be really different as well! (I agree with you... I don't like the looks of Eleven too.)
