i just got finished at an inventory. the first i've ever worked over my handful of years with this company. it wasn't that bad, but i did feel like the store could have prepped better than it did. not that i have any basis for comparison, but it just felt as though inventories should have been able to move much faster than the one i just did.

I did a couple of those back when I worked there. You're right, they put a very minimal amount of effort into preparation. And in that, it takes way longer than it should. Then again, there are typically fewer people there than are actually needed for such a task. But unless they pull in managers from other stores, they are stuck with three people at best. Although meh, I guess adding more people just leaves more room for mistakes in numbers coordination. And I'm glad to hear yer doing well, long time no see! ^_^;;

Wait, this was your first inventory? How is it that I did more inventories than you? I don't remember them being especially good (although I did an inventory with Jen, so that might be it), and there definately could have been much better organization, but I remember I always felt like I was kept busy, so it's not like all the time was being wasted.
